Borla ATAK and Borla S-Type HELP!!!
So after spending a few hours on you tube today watching different vids of the s-type and atak, i cant decide between the two. The atak cat-back seems too loud for me, but its hard to tell on the vids if the axle back(resonators still on) is any quieter. As far as the s-type goes, its exactly the opposite. Too quiet, hard to tell if its louder with out the resonators. So my question is, how big of a difference do the resonators make on these? Maybe replace the factory resonators with slp loudmouth resonators and borla atak axle back? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

My understanding is the resonator works similar to a muffler. I have the axleback borla s with the factory resonators and I really do like the sound. Deep idle and plenty of roar at WOT. None of the blah! blah! that I hear from other muffler setups.

I had a friend with the Borla ATAK and LT headers on his car and it was very loud. He removed it and went with a flowmaster set up instead.

i would go atak if you are not going to add headers. exhaust can some times seem louder on youtube. there is not a cat back out there that is loud enough for me. i would need headers at least to be 100% happy.

How do you like the Borla Atak? Is it too loud when cruising? Will I be embarrassed to start it up in a church parking lot? I have a 2012 Camaro 2SS/RS went with Magnaflow wasn't satisfied now I've just ordered the Borla Atak full cat back and having second thoughts please give me feedback. thanks in advance.

I have the borla ATAK on an L99, sometimes you'll get a little pop at start up. Like mikeSS said, no cat back can be "too loud", the atak is probably one of the louder ones though. It sounds great, combines everything that an exhaust should incorporate, and supposedly it flows better than a straight pipe i kid you not, look em up on the borla website.

That was also my concern at first, I originally had a axle back from GMPP and decided I wanted something louder went on YouTube and looked at hundreds of videos.. Ended up going with the Borla ATAK and I am absolutely I love with it.. it has a very deep tone and if you don't plan on getting headers it's a perfect exhaust for the car
all in all its personal preference but my opinion is that they did a fantastic job with the ATAK. |

The Borla Atak makes these cars sound the way they should have coming out of the factory. The exhaust by its self wasn't loud. I noticed a big change when I put the CAI/Headers on. Now it just sounds bad ass. Nothing out there compares to the Atak.
