Thank you for posting this topic, I know its been covered before. But I would like to clean up the engine bay area some, not so much for added HP but for just a more finished look. After hearing what fbodfather has said on this thread, i'll be carefull to bring my car only to one of the better named aftermarket companies that advertises hear on the forums. I believe some of them also carry there own warranty as well.

Well you should probably sell your Camaro then. Anyone without a garage for one of these cars is insane. Especially with the jealousy of kids today.

I'm kidding if course..... About the selling part.

Wha? Take a look at my camaros I have had over the years...
I have lived in this same house since 1978....notice where all these cars are parked.. every one of them...same house..
Do you think I am at least 1% worried about what someone else may do to my car? You don't have to have a garage to have a nice car..
And..Garages are sooo over rated..all they do is keep nice cars pent up never to be taken out of the garage and only used as show queens..
Would love to have a garage built here one day...
Its been in the works off and on...
Probably before I build my 68 vert... I will have a garage...
Yes, my Zl1 will be my daily driver to..
Heres my thread as it is in line with the OP...
Never once had an issue with any of these cars with water injestion..
Only car I have ever had a problem with water injestion was a 5.8 litre 351 Mustang LX with a hood scoop...and thats a fact Jack..
I will caution about this thread...it is very long winded and is loaded with photos... If you have dial up forget it...

THat's also why I cringe when I look under the hood at many Camaros and Firebirds - and see 'modifications' to the air intake.........

One of the things that I have always respected about SLP is that they would validate to our standards......

I love watching and doing enviromental tests for the military, and I know that this would be some fun testing to conduct also. I remember a time we did an Ice test, we had a layer of 3inchs of ice on the truck just to see how well the body would hold up to that much extra weight. Let's just say the truck saged 4inchs lower....

No worries 68 RS, the ZL1 is so fast it creates a plasma field that surrounds it....the super heated gasses burn up anything in the atmosphere that comes near it....

I had a 2010 GT500 which also had a big hole in the hood. I never had any issues what so ever in the rain.

ehhhhh Do they make one that will still stay on the car when I drive the car at 171 mph speeds? If so, yea... Ill take one..
Other wise just to cover it up?
Nope. Why? I cant show its beauty with a cover on it. Might as well have it in the garage. Other reasons? Covers scratch, and are a pain to keep on cars.
Before I get flamed for the scratch comment, most of the time when you pull your car up in the driveway it as least has some dust or debris on it right?
Who washes they're car every time they drive it back home? I don't. When you pull your car in the driveway and cover it up with all that lite layer of road dust and debris the wind will surely pick up and use the car cover to beat your new factory paint or custom paint to death. Creating lots of tiny swirls that have to taken out by people that know how to remove them. Do I know how to remove scratches? Yes, but it is much more easier I have found to leave the car uncovered. Rain don't hurt it, wind don't hurt it, snow don't hurt it. Keep it polished and waxed religiously. Hail? Yes hail hurts. That's why I have good insurance!

This is a car that you'll love. You don't want to get caught in a hail storm in your ZL1.........and you would rather not fix hail damage.

I live by car covers. It is something that you'll have to get used to, just to be fair. It is also a little harder to do if you are constantly inside of your car. I gathered that this is a prime car that you may not get rid of, and keeping it mint for an indefinite period I assumed would be a must. It definitely is the case for me.

BTW, I've never received a scratch from a car cover just from normal usage (premium covers should not scratch and the car is supposed to be clean before putting it on). Its something to get used to, but a car like that should get the royal treatment, and I wouldn't have it exposed to the elements on a constant basis (sigh...everyone gets caught in the rain at least once though..).

Garaging just adds to the car's longevity, but even that requires an expense..especially if you don't have one. I'm a bit touchy with my cars' appearance, and for certain cars I will not permit wear and tear from the weather, or even the remote possibility of an incident at home. Eh....case in point....covers and garaging definitely helps keep a car mint. Detailing (swirls) is another must for me that adds to keeping the car looking its best. It is the top priority for my ladies. A premium car has to look its best at all times IMO.
