It's just a cover. It does NOTHING for sound or performance. If anything it hurts performance. Heat is the enemy, no use in helping it.

I disagree that the cover does nothing. If you look at it , it has an insulation blanket on it that lays on the intake manifold. I would assume that its purpose is to insulate the manifold from the engine compartment heat. We put cold air intakes on and then expose the manifold to this heat? Makes no sense to me. I say leave it on for its insulation factor.

Its purely for looks. It should not affect performance whatsoever.

on the SS's there are 2 the big plastic one and then another small plastic one the exact shape of the intake manifold so unless you are taking both off I dont see any positives or negatives. For example if you go down the 1320 often some people ice down their intake manifold and if you dont have that small black cover off your wasting your time and ice.

There is a beautification engine cover and an insulated cover underneath the beauty cover. IMO, removal of the beauty cover may have a slight benefit, as heat raising from the engine and heater core hoses is not trapped. As for the insulated cover on the intake, it is questionable if there is any benefit with removal. Some may say that it traps heat. I believe it prevents ambient heat from the engine bay from transferring to the intake while driving. Anyway, I leave the beauty cover off. No difference in sound or temp to me. I never had the insulated cover off, so no comment it.

It also restricts airflow over the intake manifold. It does not insulate from engine compartment heat Engine compartment heat is quickly expelled once the car is moving down the road.Builds again when stopped or parked and then when popping the hood seems very hot. It is called a "Beauty" cover and was installed to cover up all the wires and hoses of modern engines and that is all. Just about all new cars have them these days. Here is what it can look like with alittle clean up and bling

You won't notice any sound difference until you remove the intake manifold cover or "turtle" that has some serious insulation and lays right on top of the Intake.

Those cleaned up engines sure do fix the ugly problem! What exactly was relocated and was anything particularly difficult?

Heater hoses were swapped out with 2012 Camaro parts and the fuel rail was turned 180 degrees and a Corvette Short fuel line was used to reconnect. I also removed the intake manifold cover and powder coated the coil brackets. Nothing about it was difficult at all.

Just get a PD blower, so you have a legit excuse to throw that cover away!
