Does anyone have any good catch can recommendations or are they all about the same? Would solve my delima or what route should I go? I can see oil getting through the line but that's about 10 inches of filter it would need to get across

I think most everyone around here is running the RX catch can, but they all do the same thing.

I have a small breather filter, but does that line need any suction of the intake or is it a strickly breather and Im good the the small filter ?
IMO this is a mistake, the forward mounted filter gets cooler air and cooler air means more power.

The filter that comes with the Vortech I found to be a restriction and I offer a Larger Replacement filter that fits on the Vortech Ducting.

Yes we have mounted filters on the back of the supercharger when we are trying to make upwards of 750 RWHP where we found the ducting to be somewhat restrictive.

At Lower boost like you have there is No Restriction and only benefits of cooler Air.

Ted.

To bump this...at 10psi you think there is any gain to a filter right on the blower vs using the vortech elbow?

I just posted in another thread about back to back testing of the Vortech tube. Looks like it cost me about 2 psi. I wasn't worried about that as I was running an ECS kit with restrictor. I just removed the restrictor to gain the psi back, but I wasn't testing for boost loss, was testing for IAT difference.

I used to agree but just tested it and I found no benefit of the tube. See the thread titled "timing and iat"

Jre Big filter on vortech tube vs ECS filter...0.2 psi gain in third with ecs filter. Not really any noticeable overall power but it builds more boost is first and second noticeably. I'm going to roll with it for further testing. My afr reads the same so it was minor enough the tune could adjust.

Do you mean the ECS filter was on the blower or on the end of the vortech tube?

I was testing for IAT, but you can see all my test results in that other thread.

ecs filter mounted direct to blower (with a small adapter of course). I think you are on the money...once you are moving that location isn't bad...expecially with Vortech's huge intercooler.

I have the ECS kit with the small ECS vertical flow intercooler. Still, I agree (from back to back testing now) that there is no harm in IAT's having the filter on the blower.

I run the K&N re-0870 filter with a 3.5" to 4" flange adapter directly off the V3. My IATs stay about 4 degrees above ambiant unless I sit and idle for awhile. I also have hex vents in my hood so that helps the heat escape. I see 12 psi at 6200 rpm.

You mean IAT's at normal driving. I am talking about IAT's at WOT.

I am thinking about the hex vents myself, mainly for looks.

Off subject, are you LS3 or L99 and what cam are you running? I keep slowly opening up the restrictor, working towards 12 psi on a non humid 70 degree day. I see about a 0.5 psi change with every 10 degree change in ambient. That will put me to 13 psi on a 50 degree day, and about 13.5 psi if I ever run it on a 40 degree day. I'm wondering if that is too much for a stock L99 stock cam. And I spray a 100 shot.
