This is a nice oil, ENEOS 0W-50 is what I use in my STi to help with the oil consumption from a turbo. I tried lots of others, M1 0W-41 M1 15W-50, nothing has worked like the ENEOS.

I hope everyone is ready for this.
Problem 1) Government wants us to drive more fuel efficient cars.
Problem 2) Domestic auto industry wants to sell more cars
But the cars on the road today are lasting longer so we are not trading in our existing cars and SUVs fast enough.
So the government and the industry (politicians and lobbyists) get together and come up with a solution. Legislate/regulate the anti-wear additives out of motor oil.

Just be careful on running that thick of an oil, at cold oil temps they do not flow that well.

This is what my builder, Erik of HKE, recommends with this LSX427. It never gets below 30deg here, or rarely. Car is in the garage and that never gets below 40deg.

I think i will stick with his recommendation and run the 15W50. I have a case of the JoeGibbs HR3 15w50 full synthetic that i will run after the breakin with the JoeGibbs BR oil.

Thanks for this info, good stuff!

What oil would be recommended for a blown daily driver? I live in Chicago so as you can imagine it gets pretty cold here in the winter. So far my car has not seen the winter yet and has been running on the semi synthetic the dealer uses for all of its 7k miles. Any suggestions? Should I just switch to the full synthetic they are putting in the zl1's?

Lots of info in this thread and all the links to make an informed decision. On a LS3 with blower i would recommend the Joe Gibbs LS30...here is a link to a tech article on the oil

Plenty of other options also, lots of good info in this thread

I too have been thinking about switching to the amsoil z- rod. Right now , I've been using the signature series. I have a catch can and no cats, so I may give it a try.

I'm not going to street race or drag my car. It's a daily driver so I think I will use the fully synthetic Chevy uses in the ZL1. I wouldn't even know where to find some of these oils you guys are mentioning.

Most people agree the old mobil 1 was a very good oil. They rolled out the new oil to make the tree huggers happy. But they still make an oil that's extremely close to the original everybody likes. It's called Mobil 1 Extended Performance.

Sweet! Thx for the info. As far as the tree huggers go I get more satisfaction revving my engine next to a Prius then I do another Muscle car. I'll make up for his lack of carbon foot print Haha.
