I guess you are immune to sales tax on a new car somehow? Let me know, heck it could have saved me $2500.

Using your numbers of $24,772 with 7% sales tax and $300 for tax,tag & licence, total cost would be $26,806.40. Subtract you trade/downpayment ($1500) and you are at $25,306 or $412/month.
So how is your dealer qouting you $385????

But feel free to order the 2LT... just dont be suprised if you payments are right at $500/month.

I played around with the 1LT and then after looking and seeing the extras you got with the 2LT, I ended up getting leather (heated) seats, gauge pkg, & heated mirrors for approximately $500.00 more. I had originally 1LT w/upgrade radio, conv. pkg. and I was able to make the change to the 2LT/RS before the car got picked up. I plan to keep this car for a while so the decision wasn’t hard.

yeah, i think i'm going to go with the 2LT as well. i've thought about it and i think i'm going to try to sell my car outright (i've already had 4 people ask about it and all i did was post it on facebook LOL) and also save as much as possible. i'm going to crunch all the numbers today and figure out exactly how much i would need to have saved for the down payment to get my monthly payments where i want them. if it takes me awhile so be it... i want to LOVE my car and not just settle for something because i want a camaro so badly... know what i mean?

Can you finance the sales tax by rolling it into your loan amount? This is my first new car purchase, and I figured I was going to have to pay the sales tax out of pocket when my Camaro comes in.

YES..... Typically your down payment is subtracted from the total after tax, tag, & title ..... Then you finance the ballance

HOWEVER, doing this, my dealer says i can only afford the 1LT, because i CAN'T go over 400 for my payment. my question is, should i just order the 1LT now or should i a.) try to sell my car on my own and get more for it and then order the 2LT or should i just save save save for a few more months and then have more to put down and then trade my car? or are there other options i'm not even thinking of that you guys could suggest? does anyone know how long gm is going to keep taking orders? i would hate to think that i put off ordering the 1LT now and was saving saving saving and then when i was ready it was too late.... any help or suggestions would be GREAT!!!!! THANKS!

I don't have ur financial concerns - but I bought the 1LT. Here is my rationale:

With the 1Lt I can get a sunroof and the connection convience package which gives me the gadgets like a 2LT.

So what did I loose out on but not going for the 2LT - leather seats and heated mirrors. I had leather seats in my G35 coupe - and I'm kinda like blah.. towards them.. I hate the cringe marks they leave after usage.

I will miss the heated mirrors - but I could not justify paying the extra premium of $3K (i believe) to go up to a 2LT for heated mirrors.. Just my two cents.

i have leather seats in my grand prix now and heated seats and i LOVE them. i had cloth in my cavalier and hated how staticky i got in the winter. and just hated how it felt in general. i really want leather. it's one of my favorite things about my car... well other than the HUD. THAT will be hard to give up :(

It was either a 1SS or a 2LT for me. I had a $25k budget along with a $5k trade. 10-15 years ago, with the same money, I would have been all over the V-8. Today, the leather and the rest is more my style.

Get what you can afford. No sense over extending and not being able go out for dinner and other things. It's still a Camaro no matter what trim level.

You can always upgrade your car as money becomes more available or trade for what you can afford down the line.

how do i upgrade after i get the car? i know i'm probably asking really stupid questions, but i'm pretty naive (as you can probably tell) about all this car stuff. if i were to get a 1LT who would i take it back to to upgrade to say leather, or a sun roof? just someone locally or is this something i can do through gm???

I think the cloth seats will work fine for you. You can install the 4 pack gauges for around $500. Sunroof is an option for all Camaros. I've seen aftermarket sunroofs here, don't know the cost, but can be done.

You can always change out the wheels to make it your own.

Upgrade the sound system via your dealer or a local shop.

Compare all the standard equipment for each model, it's still a Camaro.

Wait and save for the 2LT after all that is what you really want to begin with.

i think i am just going to wait and save for the 2LT. who knows, by the time i get the money saved maybe there will be incentives... or something i can PEP, or who knows what. now i'm stressing out about how much to save. LOL. this sucks! i was completely ready to order my car and now i'm back to square one. i keep plugging numbers in to a car payment calculator online to figure out exactly how much i need to have as a down payment. it's not looking good for me... i won't be able to order it this year :( i'm thinking about getting a part time job though and just putting ALL of that money in to my camaro fund until i can order it. i would be stressed working two jobs, but i think the pay off would be so worth it to have my dream car!
