Went with auto, but that's because I know I'd likely get tired of manual after a while. Really can't lose. Any configuration is still a badass car.

I cant afford the SS at my age but i think ive made my decission. If I get the manual transmission then I can get a 2lt with the rs package. But if I get the auto tranny then I have to get a 1lt with the rs package and without all of the goodies. I barely know how to drive stick but ill drive around the neighborhood a few hours with it for practice. Im sure the ambient lighting, heated seats, leather, gauge cluster, and all of the goodies will be worth it.

I think your choice is clear.

I am in my uper 40ds and i went with the auto as well live in the atlanta area lots of traffic.

Manual all the way. I am stuck in DC traffic on a regular basis and there is no way I would give up my manual.

Only reason to get a auto if your a chick,an old guy with bad knee's or have heavy stop and go traffic to deal with every day. I test drove a 1LT stick vs a SS auto i hated the SS it was more powerful but boring as hell to drive. The V6 with stick is one hell of ride for under 30k.

I agree with the rest, the only time a manual sucks is when you're in A LOT of traffic for an extended period of time. Not because of the shifting of gears, but because the clutch foot gets sore!

Please don't stereotype Auto vs Manual drivers...everyone has their reasons for their choice and it may have NOTHING to do with "all of the above 'so called' people" who have Auto trans...

Don't judge others unless you want to be judged yourself.....IMHO...

After all, we ALL drive Camaros, enough said, PERIOD!!!...

m sold when i order

Alright after months of reading and taking the auto side of the battle...i've just been converted over to Manual trans....only because it is more fun to drive a v8 like that. I've always hated stick just because i didnt know how to drive them lol but i've learned about 2 weeks ago and im set. When i order i dont have to wrry about getting a auto....manual in a V8 is just added fun and tis will be my second daily driver meaning i will only drive it on good day not snow or bad bad hail type weather. Thanks guys for convert me over and the help of my buddys stick hondai lol.

My only 2 question

with manuals is there a gas guzzler tax?

And how are they on long trips?

thanks

The manual allows GM to put the 426 HP engine in the SS with a manual to avoid the tax.
But with the Auto they had to reduce the horsepower to 400 and make it where it will switch to run 4 cylinders when 8 is not needed.

It is fun not having to worry about shifting though sometimes.. My next car will be an automatic once more methinks..

I wouldn't go that far.. Most drag racers use automatics.. and the fastest times around tracks are done in automatics.. An automatic Camaro is definitely a sports car/muscle car..

Manual all the way. Even in traffic you change your driving behavior. In stead of gassing, then braking ( like my wife) you lay back and just keep it rolling. You'll learn. Besides most people go home and run on a tread mill ( like my wife) and complain bout the clutch.
