How much bigger? Crazy price on the calipers? Soooo nice to find good OEM parts instead of the K-Sport/D2 China stuff people use these days.

Stupid question, can the stock SS brake lines work with the ZL1/CTS V calipers?

Asking because I cant find the answer.

As far as I know, they're a little bit too short, so you should get lines meant for ZL1.

You'll survive. It's $100? : )

I'm sure any of the ZL1 owners who updated their lines to SS braided kind can send you their OEM lines for free.

No, what sucks is I bought a set of Goodridge lines for my SS and thought it would fit on the ZL1 calipers when I swap them.

Oh, OK. Since you said it's disappointing without giving context, I assumed you just didn't want to buy new lines. Hopefully you can return them.

Have fun with your new brakes!

After doing the install the SS lines really would not be a good fit for two reasons.

1. The SS lines are shorter because the SS brembo brake lines feed the caliper's from the top rear and the ZL1 brembo brake lines feed the calipers from the bottom rear. So the lines need to be a little longer to reach the bottom side of the larger yet caliper.

2. Due to the geometry differences resulting from feeing the ZL1 calipers from the bottom the banjo bolt ends on the brake lines have different bend angles in them to provide the proper brake line routing path up to the hard line connection point.

So really if you are doing the ZL1/CTS-V front brake upgrade it's just best to buy the correct brake lines. The conversion is already not exactly pocket change so don't why risk a brake failure with a $1000 conversion just because someone didn't want to spend another $100-$150 for the proper brake lines.

Spend more time than you think burnishing the pads/rotors.

Here is a link to most questions regarding the change to the CTSV/ZL1 six pistons calipers on and SS.

Listen to Dropspeed.... Let me give you my advice if you do not have access to do this on a track. Go out late at night (the colder the better when doing this) and find a LONG straight away with zero traffic. First is 5 minutes of back to back 5-45-5mph runs without coming to a complete stop, nor locking them up. then comes 15 minutes(or until serious brake fade starts) of 5-75-5mph runs back to back braking as hard as possible without lockup or coming to a complete stop, at the end your brakes will be smoking hot, then drive home without using the brakes if possible and let cool overnight DO NOT APPLY PARKING BRAKE.....

Bedding in brakes is great, but if it's not feasible to do so, it's not end of the world in my opinion. I don't have access to any road that would be empty, yet allow high speeds at almost any time of the day. Well, burnishing happens at the track regardless, and it's not as crucial as would be the case for carbon ceramic brakes. In other words, it still holds pretty well, and 90% of performance with race pads is more than enough at the street, and street pads require much less bedding anyway. Still, if you have access to a road like that, why not
