An x-pipe is supposed to make more horsepower as it arguably has a better scavenging effect on the exhaust gases. An x-pipe also has a different sound than an h-pipe. Great info, thanks

One more question regarding the x pipe. I understand the concept of the muffler delete but how is the x pipe installed on the existing exhaust?

The magnaflow x-pipe is almost identical in size to the factory h-pipe. The install simply involves cutting off the h-pipe, and then either clamping or welding the x-pipe in its place. It is very simple/cheap for any exhaust shop to do.
