Yeah that's why I wanted the car . Seems like a logical thing to do. Stay in for 26 years, get great benefits (including free college), come out with a degree and a pension as well as a gob pretty much guaranteed.

Why do you say that? I've read and watched quite a bit of videos about V6's and how they are happy they got them before the SS. They said they went to track days in their V6 and actually learned how to drive it the proper way, and how to handle it. Seems like a pretty logical decision to me.

Devil's Advocate here...
![]() You are getting ready to go into the Navy, which means boot/basic training/specialty school. You won't see your car for months! Then, depending on where your duty station is, or if you're plopped on a ship/sub, you're off to sea... not seeing your car again... for months. Why not wait and save for that SS once you have a good feel for your situation after being in the service for while? ![]() Thanks for your future service in the Navy... much respect, my Dad is a retired E9 from the Navy after 20 years of service.

I can see how, depending on where he gets stationed, he will need a car right out of basic/a-school etc. Even if stationed on a ship, unless its a ship at sea or we're at war, he will need a car regardless.
I do agree that he should at least wait until he gets out of basic training. But don't do what I did when I got a brand spankin new 1995 Camaro Z28 as soon as I got to NAS Lemoore out of basic. Ya live ya learn....... btw, thanks to all who serve our country. |

I bought my 2011 S22 Convertible in January for $23,500 and it had less than 6,000 miles on it. There were lots of 2010's SS coupes listed at that time for $18,000-$20,000 but they all had 50-70K miles on them at that price point. Keep in mind I live in Chicago and that was Jan. which not a lot of people are buying rear wheel drive sports cars in Jan. in Chicago so I am sure my deal had a lot to do with the winter season, I'm sure prices inch up this time of year.

If you are saying you wouldn't sell your car for even $27k that's one thing, I get it but your car is not worth anywhere near $27k market value. Your car is worth around $20,000 plus or minus a couple bucks based on miles.

This forum doesn't know you. If you can be happy with a V6 then don't spend the extra money on a V8. Many people find them powerful and fun to drive. Rent one for the weekend and see what you think.
I could not be. I am one of those guys who will walk to work while saving for a V8 before I would buy a V6. I have made the mistake of buying V6 and hated them and lost a lot of money getting out of them. I will drive a 75 Camaro (I hate 75's) with a V8 long before I would spend a dime on a V6.
