There's a link to a member who put a 305 wide tire on the stock wheel. Personally I like it. Gives it a kind of old school meaty look while keeping the 20" wheel.

This is not a good idea in the long run. Minimum rim width for this 315 tire size is 10.5 inches. maximum is 12.5 inches. for 305 minimum is 10 inches and maximum is 12 inches. Just cause you can mount it does not mean it works correctly. The center of the tire is going to push out away from the center of the wheel as if it was squashed similar to overinflating. The shoulder of the tire also will tuck outward as it squashed into the wheels bead area.handling treadwear and safety are affected. There are minimum rim width requirements for each tire size and should always be followed.

As stated above, I seriously recommend against trying to squeeze tires onto your stockers that arent recommended to fit!

The best case scenario is crazy/uneven treadwear... so you wasted your money. Worst case is that you could have some kind of blowout or catastrophic tire failure at a very inopportune time, like in a corner where cornering loads are too much for the tire due to the fact that you squeezed a 12.4 inch wide tire on a 9 inch wide rim.

It's your car, and your life... do with it what you want. But if you decide to go that route, I dont want to see you crying on this board because your car got all beat up due to your tire failing and resulting in some sort of accident.

That is not true. Have either of yall run 315's on a 9inch before?? I'm telling you, it does NOT wear wrong and push/fall off in the corners, etc, etc. If safetly, wear, and handling are affected, which I agree they ARE, its is so trivial and minimal its not noticeable. On my last car, I went through two sets of 315's on stock 9inch wheels... and on the car before that, one set. I just urge you to try it out once... its worth it.

*PLUS* Nittos run alot narrower than goodyears and bfg's. Some tires just run narrower and smaller than others, kinda like jeans and shoes. For example, a goodyear GS-D3 305 is actually a tad WIDER than a nitto 315. Those freakin GS-D3's run freakin FAT! I had these for the two sets on my last car. Best tire you'll find.

I measured the Nitto 315 against the Pirelli 305 and they are the same width. Much better price for the Nitto and a little taller as I recall. But, I wanted to stay with the brand that came with the car. Just me I guess.

20x10 in front 275 40 20 . 20x11 rear 315 35 20. Now before i call and order i still need to learn more. do i need to check on offset front or rear. is the 275 to wide for the front. outside diameter is good just not sure about the width. I really am thankfull for everyone sharing what the have learned.

275 is fine for the front... alot of guys are putting an extra set of factory rear wheels on the front, those are 20x9 with a 40 mm offset if im not mistaken and of course have the 275 40 series tires and no problems reported. The only problem you may run into is with the 20x10 wheel width.

I have been selling tires for 30 years I do know what I am talking about. The tires tread will not be sitting on the ground as intended and the sidewalls will not be supporting the weight of the car as the tire corners as intended. The sidewalls are sucked in and are no longer staight up and down as intended. The bead area of the tire where it meets the rim is then 1 to 1.5 inches in from the outside edge of the tires tread. You will be actually removing part of the tires footprint from the ground because its on to narrow of a wheel totally defeating the purpose of doing it in the first place. The tire manufatures have minimum and maximum rim diameters for a reason. All it takes is one tire failer to cause a catstrophic life altering accident. Do it right or don't do it at all for the safety of everyone on the road. Thats how I feel.

What width rim would be needed to make 305s and 315s look like the stock wheel/tire profile. For example, if I go with the minimum wheel width the tire will buldge. I don't want that look, I want it to look straight like the stock set-up.

If you do not want to use the minimum then I would use the prefered width for both the 305 and the 315 of an 11 inch wheel to keep the tire straight up and down.
