I got my SS in August and just made an appointment to change my oil for the first time at my selling dealer. Only 2300 miles but the dealer agrees it's time to change the oil.
PS: The first oil change is free at my dealer so it's not that they are just looking for the job.

Do some research. Amsoil is the best out there and lasts a year or 25,000 miles.

Unless the OLM says to change it before that.

Ya know, for someone who keeps saying "do some research" you don't seem to do to much of it yourself. Amsoil is a great product, but stop being so broad with your "facts". Amsoil states that it can go 25,000 miles under normal service...most people drive under severe service, which Amsoil states that its oil will go 15,000.

In all reality, neither of those statements holdup in real world use. I know Amsoil would do excellently at 10,000 mile intervals (this has been proven time and again with real world UOA's), but after that it starts to falter (again, this 15,000 or 25,000 mile stuff has been proven to be false with real world UOA's).

You need to do some research into UOA's and become educated to the fact that while Amsoil is an outstanding oil, their claims of 25,000 miles as a consistent marker is false.

Oh, and by the way. Before you start your typical dealer response, just know that I use Amsoil myself...I'm just honest, not a fanboy. I use the ASL in my 2003 Chevy pickup, and in my 2003 Mustang...both are out of warranty. I always run Amsoil as soon as warranties run out because I believe it to be the best out there. The problem is that it doesn't meet all the requirements of my owners manual nor is it on GM's approved oil list. If it was API certified and on GM's approved oil list, I'd use it after 500 miles every time.

There's a law suite against them because of the claims they make. Google that.

Assume there is a particular oil filter that should be used with Mobil1? I have a place I trust to do my oil changes, tire rotation, etc. and want to request be sure they use the right filter...not just a stock "regular oil" filter. I currently use AMSOIL on my older vehicles but may use Mobil1 on Camaro for warranty reason. TIA!

V6 or V8? Your going to be limited with the V6 as far as filters go. And no, you do not need a specific filter with Mobil 1. Quite frankly the stock AC Delco is very good.
