Get off your butt and help your friend.

Save the last part for the Glenn Beck show. Interest rates took a nose-dive well before he was in office.

I have to say that I agree that this "supercar" that he wants being a band-aid. I enjoy "things" as much, if not more than others but that's all they are. The happiness that you get from "things" never lasts. I agree on seeing about getting him some psych and/or spirtual therapy.

If he has creditors, then he doesn't "have" all of that money. He should take care of that too. If he is responsible with money, which he must be to some degree to have all of the money you have discussed, he should still take care of the creditors.

But besides that, I agree that he should really see a professional therapist or psych., medication seems to offer alot in the way of balancing out our minds if there is an imablance somewhere. And it seems that there must be for someone to want to take their life, even if it is a discussion of the future.

And I also agree, this isn't the best place to "seek advise" about life, if it is not about the "life" of your Camaro... Just sayin'...

ok...my 2c, and a personal view... i went through a rough spot last year, had big plans to be married, was buying a home, starting a family etc - had the rug pulled out from under me, and left me with decidedly less money too. wasnt too happy with it all.... so i think i will go and raise hell in vegas for a good weekend with an old pal. a very sick 3 days later and even less money to show for it - my issues and problems were still there.

ohhh i know, i'll get a car!!! yeah thats it! i deserve it after all this. so i buy my 2ss (using the money i had left for a house for the dp). the car, sure it makes me smile - i really like it. and the pain of last year has diminished with time, not with the car. but new issues keep coming up. and the car does not make me content at all.

so point is, material things will never replace what is ailing you emotionaly. what should he do, i am not sure. but just spending money on things wont fix his issues. he seems to need to change his life, not buy things. its like putting a band aid on a severed leg. useless.

btw this advice is worth what ya paid for it,lol.

You're complaining about historically low interest rates, seriously?
Careful...

800K invested in some conservative mutual funds should return at least 8-10% annually......I think I could live pretty comfortably on 80K annually.

Advise is one thing, but unless someone here is a doc or in the know about this type of issue, no one else should be answering this. Hope he finds the answers he needs....
