The engine cover is just about the only thing I hate about this car...and it's the only part I'm interested in replacing with aftermarket. I really hope GM gets the message on this one and does something about it.

You don't see Ford putting this crap on the Mustang...I mean look how much better the Bullit motor looks stock over this fake cover junk:

hmf. I seem to be the only one who prefers the look of a nicely-executed engine cover over a bunch of wires and hoses......

Nope, I'd rather open the hood and see the cover too. I only want to see all the wires, belts, and hoses when I'm in there to fix something or install aftermarket parts.

I'm sorta in between. The Camaro's covers too much. No cover leaves too much junk in view.

The corvette's cover enough of the ignition coils and other extraneous wiring, etc, but leaves the intake runners exposed. I think it's just right.

IMO, the new engines being completely just don't have the good looks of an old 60's-70's SBC.

The problem isn't because there is A cover it's because it's THAT cover....bulky and cheap looking. I would gladly put the LS3 Corvette covers on, but would prefer it to say Camaro.

Nah, I like the covers as well, I just prefer the shiny concept cover. I just hope GM will offer one eventually. I'll give GM the benefit of the doubt and wait a while before getting an aftermarket one, but it will be replaced.

I don't know if i would want to pull the engine, tear it down, polish and rebalance ...to gain ultra minimal hp.

But like everyone says...it's your car..do what you want...most of all...have fun!
Yup, I'll have fun with mine. I just prefer to maximize the full potential of everything my car comes with so I don't have to replace vital components. I'll put together a custom engine eventually, but it'll go into a restoration project when I am able to afford one. Likely, a '69 Camaro. The only things I'll replace on my 5th gen. are original filters, plugs, wires, injectors, and fluids. Maybe gears, pumps, and the drive shaft. I will, however, add a suspension kit. I'm weird about the engine for some reason. Thanks for the tip, though!

Looks like every other LSx with the fuel rail covers taken off. Throttle body, intake, fuel rails, valve covers with coil packs and plug wires running down off them.

EDIT: I still have the FRCs off my wrecked GTO. They make a nice wall fixture, but that's about it. I pulled them off the day I bought the car.
