How the hell is that you're fault? You didn't do the shoddy parking job. Your dad seems to be in denial or embarrassed because he did what he did. Regardless, he should pony up for whatever it costs you to have it fixed.

I mean sure everybody loves their Camaro and would like it to be in 100% condition forever, but lets face it. No car will be in 100% condition not even from the factory. Your dad is family and can't be replaced. It was an accident. Life is too short to worry about little things like this. I've learned that the hard way seeing that I lost my mom when I was 13.
I am sorry to hear that. I am 14 now and I don't what I do without either of my parents

That is wrong on so many levels. I thought the younger generation was the one with the "It is not my fault" mentality. He needs to take responsibility for his actions and fix your car. He is not setting a very good example for you!

Wow. Personally I wouldn't get it fixed if it were in that location. Problem is if you let him drive again or someone else (if you don't have PTSD now), and they do it... that's money spent for no reason. If it shows really bad, then yes I would fix it. A huge dent on the side, scrape, paint transfer, etc would be something I would fix.

Sorry to hear, just chalk it up as a lesson learned... with both of my parents passed on, I look back on similar incidents as memorable moments (in a better light now then when they happened)...

I would fix it knowing that I would not let anyone (other than someone in the service dept @ a dealership) drive it until I sell it.

OK, I lost all respect for your father. He can't be serious! My father would own up to his mistake and would pay to have my car fixed. And even though he's a retired truck driver after 40 years of driving, I wouldn't let him drive my car. He's probably do the same. He's used to driving pickup trucks and being able to see all around him. This car has a lot of blind spots and requires some getting used to in order to NOT do what your father did.

Clearly you did not get your sense of right and wrong from your dad... His refusal to pay damages is revolting. If you cant see the damage anymore, I would tell your father that you will be saving that money from the repairs for the downpayment on his admission to a nursing home at first opportunity

Considering she would only be the 3rd person i let drive it... Well my car has vertical doors, and told her the rules etc.. well somehow or someone left it open in the air too long, and wind caught it and bent my fender alittle, Now i need to replace it.. but i didnt tell her to break her heart, so im making the good with the bad and getting aftermarket fenders = p..

I wish you luck and hope you find your answer soon, i agree fix it... it kills me when my car is not flawless...

Stupidly, I let my father drive her on our way to have breakfast. One would think that after driving his entire life, he would be able to park the car, but no cigar. He pulled into the spot too far, too quickly and ran right up into the concrete curb. The bottom plastic is bent, the right front end is scratched up, and the right front corner bent out near the tire. First and last time i let him drive my car!! I spent 3 hours buffing the scratches and I managed to bend the dent back in so none of it is even noticeable now. It just kills me that i know it's there!! It makes me sick!

The question is, do I take her in and get it professionally repaired, or do I quit being dramatic and leave it be??
As someone who works on them here in Oshawa i'd say take it in and have the damage repaired . I'm sorry to read about this, but in the long run you can can at least sleep better knowing its fixed . Best Regards from Canada.

as the others above said, that sucks, if my dad did that to me that would piss me off too.

Thanks for the sympathy, you guys! I'm still angry over the damage to Evvy, but I forgive my father. Accidents happen, after all. That's just the way he is, and has been since I was a kid. Anyway, I took the car in today and was told that it was minimal damage. The two guys couldn't even see it at all until I pointed it out, and even then they were squinting. I guess I must've done a pretty good job myself. So they took a look at her just to make sure nothing else was damaged. I decided that if two mechanics couldn't hardly tell, I wouldn't spend the money to fix it that I might need to fix something more major later on. They definitely reassured me, though. As for my dad, he definitely will not be driving my car again any time soon! As much as it pains me to see my Camaro with it's first injury, I'm letting this one go unbandaged. I do, however, think a good wash and wax is in order, just to cheer her up.
