DIY fix door dings??

Does anyone know a good way for a DIY fix door dings?

I don't have any paint breaks, just a couple of dings that I would really like to fix.

the dings are from 1 inch to 1 and 1/2 inches long

I used the 20 dollar Pops a dent at walmart to work on some of mine. It may require multiple pulls. I've been experimenting with some PDR tools as well. I seem to do a bit better on the camaro then on my Camry and my wifes Malibu. The metal appears to be thicker on the camaro.

I ordered the starter kit from here. http://paintlessdentremoval.net/

... I've usually had a "paintless dent removal" pro do mine... it's really not expensive and they have the training and the tools to do it correctly (and should save you a lot of time and effort). Your dealership or the folks on this forum may be able to refer you to a really good pro in your area. Just my $.02 ...

that is what I would normally think about doing, however I live in a college town and I WILL ABSOLUTELY be getting more door dings. There is no doubt in my mind that I would end up going to the the PDR pro several times and after all that time I would have ended up spending a lot more money than I would want to. So, instead, I need to find an alternative solution that I can do everytime I get a new ding.

I talked to the owner of a PDR shop in my area. He knows me by name and I've been using him for over 18 years. When he trains a new guy, they won't let him touch a new car for months until he's proven himself. You can make an unrepairable mess out of a dent if you don't know what you're doing. It doesn't make sense to do this type of repair on a $25k+ car at home, unless you know what your're doing. You might be able to get a better price by having multiple dents fixed at once, since there is cost involved in setup.

I don't think my dings are large enough to warrant the purchase of the whole PDR starter kit, since they are only about an inch long.

However, did you have success using the pops-a-dent??

I need some more glue for my pops a dent, but yes I had success on Bodj's Aqua blue camaro, and also on my uncles truck. I even pulled up a bit of the dent on the hood of the camry. The dent on the hood of the camry just so happens to be over a support piece that I can't push from underneath.

I used the pops a dent on the door ding I got on my camaro, and then started working on it with the PDR tools.

See my link for the member car journal to see how the camaro ding looked.

My son accidentally dinged my passenger fender in two locations. I am seeing the dent Doctor tomorrow. Was quoted $85.00 to remove both dents. I wouldn't attempt this unless doing it before and are good at it. I talked to a few people who made things worse trying to do the repair themselves. I will let you know how it went tomorrow evening after I get home.

Ask yourself if you want your first attempt at paintless dent repair to be on your new camaro. I didn't think so. I ponied up $85 at my dealership to have a door ding repaired, and the result was flawless. I would have hoarked up my dinner for five days if I tried it myself, and did more damage requiring paint work.

Also check with your dealer. I was offered a five year paintless dent repair policy for $500 (I declined). If you expect to get more than 5 dings fixed over the life of the policy, it might be worth it.

Wait till you get a few, find a good shop (google reviews etc) they usually charge a flat fee 50 to 80 per panel, it's well worth letting a professional handle it. My local guy won't charge me if he can't make it look perfect.

Sorry it is a couple days after the dent doctor. BUT I have GREAT news. He took care of both perfectly. Well worth the $85.00 Only see a professional. Do Not attempt this yourself unless you have experience. Here are some before and after photos.
