I'd check your bands in daylight just to make sure you are happy with the look. I did mine in my shop without a good work light and later looked at in the daylight and then rotated them for a better look.

Ok guys, I'm trying to get a dyno day going with my local Grand Prix club guys. I would like to do the VaraRam, stock, and a CAI if I can find a doner. CAI because it did the best all around in Ted's testing including the fuel trim it was locked into when it went into open loop, and the amount of KR during the run.

If I remember correctly the best one without a scoop was Halltech. I would be intrested in seeing the result but doesn't Vararam want you to drive 100 for the ECM to re-learn? If so that is going to be hard to do a CAI, then install Vararam, then drive 100 mi, then re-dyno. If the 100 mi re-learn is truely needed then I think it's going to be hard to test back to back.

I believe he has the VR on now and would be the first to test in my mind. I really hope you can do this it should put allot of nay-sayers to rest. I'll be waiting.

I'll be looking forward to this, but the thing is the dyno will not tell the whole story. From everything I can gather, including my own experience driving this beast, the Vararam really shines when it's hauling ass sucking in that air.

. And the scoop isn't going to happen, when I'm doing a quick swap in a parking lot . Since the VaraRamR has been on the car for a while, it would be the first dyno'd. The stock would be second. I'm not sure that testing another cai really matters since Ted has already done that. However, I figured it it might help quiet the gum flappers if I did . Unfortunately, no matter how this is approached someone is going to have something negative to say. I'm only an individual with extremely limited resourses. Just trying to be of some help.

What didn't you like about the +3.9% FT's? That is WELL within the margin of acceptable correction for the PCM. Unless i'm mistaken, the PCM throws a code around +20. I think I remember reading somewhere that the OEM box can vary as much as +/-5.

Halltech look great and performs well, nothing against them...just trying to cover as much ground as possible, for what I might do at a later date.

Are there any issues with Vararam and hydrolock? Just curious, I am not 100% familiar with the design, but it seems to put utilizing air from a lower base located near the front grill. Being that I live in Florida the "Sunshine state" where it never stops raining in summer, would this not present an issue versus the traditional box intake which has a higher base?

Thought those with the Vararam and already know what know the "feel" part is all about, would enjoy the read.

How often are you required to clean the filter and is there any additional maintenance or replacements required down the road?

You just need to treat it like you would any other reusable filter. I'd inspect it at least every 5 - 10k at first. It depend on where you drive as to how often you need to inspect or clean.
