No. Anybody who has actually raced their car where they hand out timeslips will tell you that the same exact car making the same exact power will register different performance numbers due to variations in conditions.
Yes but they are hitting the same traps. The conditions were no worse for performance...only a traction problem

Trap speed is not nearly as dependent on track/surface conditions as ET.
Yes I know...thats why I said LAUNCH and or driver. The launch and or driver is effected by the track conditions...didn't think I had to spell it out.

any car guy/gal should able to tell the difference between an 05-09 vs. 10+ mustang no problem.

Curb weight is measured as the weight of the car with a full tank, options (for that trim), operating fluids (washer fluid, coolant, oil etc) minus driver. So the 200 lb difference is between a fully loaded, driverless GT and a fully loaded, driverless SS.
The 3603lb curb weight of the mustang is the Base model.

Ok I thought you were saying that since the trap speed was still nearly identical the ETs had to be too.

If I was to order the 11 GT the brembos and gear would the only option. So the weight should stay relatively the same.

And the MT car that went 12.7 had the glass roof on it with premium interior. I would love to see the non glass roof version without the premium interior run.

Thats working on the assumption that people will be honest.

I have only seen a 2010 Mustang out "in the wild" a few times..and they are really sharp looking.

Unless that roof weighs more than 100 lbs than the steel one (unlikely), you probably won't see any difference at all.

Whether we want to admit it or not, Ford now has the momentum in the American muscle cars wars. Ford has responded to the intoduction of the Challenger and Camaro. I think this is a good thing though because it just forces rival car companies to introduce better things every year. Who knows, maybe some day the Mustang and Camaro will be running low 12's from the factory.
For anyone who keeps bitching about the fact that the GT is now faster than the SS.....grow up and learn to accept it. The SS is not the "be all, end all" muscle car. I hope this rivalry keeps going year after year....which should translate into solid Camaro sales for many, many years. Hopefully this will prevent the death of our beloved Camaro once again.

The glass roof weighs 24 pounds more than the steel one, IIRC

it's just easier to make monster power with larger life sabers than smaller ones.

What can I say? I've evolved.

This is the thing that gets me:

Quote:
How would you celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Falcon nameplate in Australia? If you’re Ford, the answer could be stuffing a supercharged version of the new 5.0-liter V-8 into the car.

According to Australian auto site GoAuto, certification documents submitted to the Australian government suggest Ford is preparing no less than three different supercharged forms of the “Coyote” 5.0-liter V-8, which first appeared in the 2011 Mustang GT. While the least powerful form is intended to replace the aging 5.4-liter V-8 (which no longer meets emissions standards in that market), there is some room for increased performance.

The “base” engine, which will reportedly show up in the Falcon XR8 range, will reportedly create 422 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque -- roughly the current output of the 5.4-liter V-8 used in the high-performance Falcon FPV GT. That car will reportedly receive a hotter form of the blown Coyote, producing 450 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque.

Incredible? Keep reading. Ford’s Aussie performance wing -- Ford Performance Vehicles -- is reportedly considering reviving the storied Falcon GTHO nameplate in 2011. If so, the hottest Falcon variant could receive a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 pumping out close to 536 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque -- eclipsing the barrage of high-performance Holden sedans that recently hit the market.

At this point, Ford is only requesting certification for the engine in one model -- the Falcon XR8 “ute” pickup. Although this isn’t quite confirmation that the model will reach production, it does seem more than likely that some form of a forced-induction 5.0 will wind up down under.

The aussies better not get the blown 5.0 before we do.
