I dunno if this has been mentioned in here, yet or not...I didn't read through all of it...

But I'd like to slap oil squirters, a higher compression ratio, headers, an intake, and a 7000rpm redline on an LS3....

hehehehe...THAT could be fun.

I'd like to slap 1.2L more on the 5.0.

Could you imagine that beast.

I am dreaming about that 600hp 5.0.

And the LS3 already has a high compression ratio.

still, $4,000+ for only the things you listed + gaskets and labor, it doesnt sound like its much of a bargain compared to forced induction, even at 6 or 7 psi

edit: or should i say, maybe closer to $8,000

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19873

im sure theres slightly cheaper ways to do it but thats a good ball park figure i think.
For example if you go with Texas Speed you are looking at the following for pricing:

Cam with needed accessories: $690
Full exhaust: $1,650 (with cats)
CNC porting $900
CAI: $275
Tune: $225
Gaskets, head bolts/gaskets, cam bolt/gasket, and any other miscellaneous items into play: $250

= $3,990

Average supercharger price = ~$7,000

Labor will be about the same for both to install along with tuning.

Texas Speed has used the same components listed to achieve 500WHP. Feel free to contact them to verify/validate: http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/

Hope that helps clarify.

N/A power is cool...500 RWHP really isnt much though...and as N/A power climbs the price per HP grows exponentially..
Also...don't just look at peak power...look under the curve and look at TQ...look at a 500 RWHP N/A and a 500 RWHP positive diplacement type SC set up...which BTW doesn't take much boost at all even on a bone stock LS3
Like I said...making big power N/A is cool...but for steetability and drivability just like stock and power...dollar for dollar anything over say 550 FI is the ticket. I've done the N/A thing and if you are a power junkie like me when the power hunger keeps calling it can get VERY expensive...
Do both see which you prefer...I know which I prefer...as I said earlier...my car will have a SC most likely before it has headers...and LONG before it has headwork or a cam...

Certainly would not disagree there. My personal goal is 500WHP N/A. All the mods to get there N/A would just benefit a FI setup if I make a move that direction down the road.

Ok...as long as you are thinking ahead...for example make a wise cam selection...sometimes the best N/A cam is not the best blower cam...if you might go FI one day...maybe comprimise..
Headers/exhaust..what may work well N/A might not give the best FI power levels...and headers large enough to maximize a blowers potential might hurt your N/A power/TQ....

Just things to think about...it is hard to build a set up suited perfectly for both.
