All in all, I think the LT is the better total package. 6-speed tranny, 300hp, the moderate-to-high performance, 27mpg, IRS, an A-class interior, and the best-damn-looking body on the road...all for under 30k...you can't find that anywhere else.

But...as it's been said -- if you couldn't give a rat's behind about anything other than raw performance: the SS is what you're looking for.

I'm with Dragon on this. If you have never been a HP\performance junkie, you will be absolutely ecstatic with the V6.

Basically all you get with the SS is Raw power, and I mean raw. 430HP is quite a bit and takes some getting used to. And you also get the FE3 suspension. So, I'd say if you don't need/want the power and don't care for the sport suspension, get the V6 you'll love it.

Now, Just to be fair. If you want to get your first HiPo car then the SS is a perfect choice.

tsk-tsk...always have such a negative outlook??

I tend to look at it as though if the V6 doesn't have enough power for you...or if you want MORE....then go for the V8...hmf..."don't want", or "don't care". You make it sound sub-par...

Now, just one minute.....

Don't lump me into that group of V6 haters..... I am perfectly fine admitting the V6 is one helluva car and has all the performance any one could need and more. So, I say again, If you don't have a need or appreciation for the overwhelming power and suspension offered by the SS, any normal human will feel the lesser yet more than adequate capabilities of the V6 will be well more than satisfied....

In addition to the power and suspension The SS will have a different look as the suspension lets it sit lower, front fascia, etc.....I like lower sports cars especial the camaro - I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Extra 120 HP makes for a totally different car. A lot more power to the ground with a ton more torque. Much faster, you will definitely feel the difference.

Another factor to consider is re-sale value. I do not plan on selling my Camaro, but if I did I would be glad I had the V8 as it will always be the more desirable model.

i'm buying this car to be a performance car, so that's why i'm going with an SS. if it was gonna just be like any other driver, i'd go with the V6 because, like Dragoneye said, it's such a great value. sports car power w/ economy mileage, awesome looks, great handling, quality interior - all starting at $23k!! can't really go wrong with either.

It should have the same overall effect.
Big tits and V8s are basically the same. Both are fun to look at, but can be dangerous if you don't know how to handle them.

Did you say the LS3 camaro will get mpg in mid 30's

ummm........ BULLSHIT

I would somewhat believe you is you said the base vette but serious the SS is most likely going to get 18/19 with the way people are going to drive it

note-did'nt say that was the real MPG
