So what is you recommended method for 500rwhp? I'm pretty close, just wondering what your suggestion is? What advice can you give me to reach this goal? You can PM me if you like. I want to stay N/A, but the I know I will have to start upgrading the rear end soon! ![]() Ace

I absolutley agree if you road race but not for drag racing. TSP is running nearly 10s with stock suspension and gears with a cam/head SS. Sticky tires are all that is needed really.

Cam/heads is obviously the least expensive routhe and a FI is the most expensive. But sitting in the middler is the option to stroke the motor to something like 427ci. If your worried about heavy lop with a big cam on the stock block you can stroke and use a more mild cam to make it more "streetable" or use a large cam for more power.

For the same amount of money you will put in to a decent sc setup with all the proper upgrades and meth kit I can turn your LS3/L99 into a 416 or 427 and make the same power but only one hell of a lot more reliable. I have a thread on here where I show it but the short of it is that I can work your engine over and make more power safer. After a certain HP point it becomes cheaper to go the FI route but 500 rwhp isnt it. We just did a 454 and made 610 with stock LS7 heads (11.35:1 compression) through a 9" rear. Probably a $13750 engine total cost and it will beat the snot out any 500 rwhp car all day long..... He now wants to upgrade the heads and bump the compression as he has E85 at his disposal all the time.... Power is addicting. Also things like a clutch , trans, diff... Its all part of it. Think of the drivetrain as a whole... |

if the hp on a SC was kept around 500, and not running high IAT, would that be a safe range for a SC as far as no engine/powertrain issues?. so far its seems a maggie or possibly whipple would fit that description best

Seems like it would, thats about what you get from the E-Force and Edelbrocks supplemental warranty is a 5 yr 100,000 mile if you keep to their criteria... but use is the key
example of what I mean: We have an 03 Impala w/168,000 miles on it... its my wifes car.... she drove it 99.9% of its life. We have never had an issue with it, just put gas in and change the oil. If i drove it most of its life I can guaranty 100% that it would no longer be in service, it would in now way last 166,000 miles without a major repair or two along the way. I drive aggressively her passively. That is the ultimate determining factor. How you drive the car will determine how long it will last. |

Supercharger
Going with a supercharger will not in any way change the daily driving of your Camaro and will give you great power. A camshaft will change the way the car idles with that muscle car lope everyone likes so much. The only difference in driving a cammed car, and this depends on the cam size, is you may have to give it a little more throttle off the line. If you do not mind the lope or off idle throttle go for broke with both.
