Crystal Red Available for ZL1?

"Currently no plans"...and "not a 2012 Color for any trim levels" is in order with what I was told - they do not generally list future options on spec sheets...Remember the HUD...(or the reverse sensors). With that in mind: I was told Crystal Red should be available for ordering at the end of this year from the source.

It's tough mentioning these things from my capacity, because it appears questionable since it's not from the mouth themselves, here on the site...but consider they have some more pertinent matters to attend to than post on forums at the moment (what with the ZL1 coming up)...

I attempted to bridge that gap for those who were asking.

This is how rumors get started. First I would like for each of you guys get whatever color ya want. I know there are slim pickin's

They did not tell dragon that CRM would be available for ZL1 at the end of the year see? Or at least that is not what he posted anywhere..

so don't take "IM SURE" to be the golden word of truth here. "IM SURE" can go a lot of different ways.
By what is being discussed I find it highly unlikely that ZL1 will be available in any color other than what is being offered in typical 2012 camaro colors.
They have been saying this since early on with MAYBE the possibility of IBM and CGM as being any exception to this. IBM returned and Scott has laid only hints that the CGM would return.

Well we know IBM did indeed return for 2012 as scott mentioned...
He also gave us this nugget to chew on...
"We are working on a replacement for CGM -- it will be somewhat 'richer'"

So unless Fbodfather or other members of the camaro team says a color will be available for ZL1 specifically I would not draw conclusions.

You're right to be cautious, MY68RS...however, there is an older statement from GM I was building on...I should have mentioned it, earlier.

"ZL1 will be available in all production Camaro colors"

So....by extension, when Crystal Red becomes available at the end of the year, it will be available on all Camaro models.


EDIT: Part of my exchange also touched upon the gray replacement. It will become available along with the Crystal Red at the end of the year.

I am going to (try) order mine in Crystal Red Metallic the first day that orders can be made. Not sure what the dealer is going to say if CRM is not on the Camaro color palette. If what Dragoneye says is correct, the color will NOT be available when orders can first be made, Oct./Nov. BUT will be available before production starts in Jan. I don't know if this will delay the order or not be accepted at all because the color is not available. If CRM was on constraint then the order would be placed on hold until the constraint was lifted, but with it not being available, I am not sure what will happen for sure. But, I will let everyone know as I go through the process.

You know if its possible to order this red for the ZL1 for the model 2012 year this could be an extremely rare color! Since most people including
dealers would not have a clue that the color would exist to order. I'm also
intersted in this red so will see what happens.

If you are ordering it from the Factory, why can't you tell them you want a "Crystal Red" option?
