BTW, the difference in a 1LT and a base SS is around $6700.00 so not sure where you're getting that $15k from unless you're talking about the percieved loss he takes.

Still guarantee it comes in WELL under 15k.

But, If I'm a bank, I'm not giving any auto loans for 7 to 10k above the cost of the car.
you hit the nail on the head... it has nothing to do with the stock 100hp, it has to do with the aftermarket possibilities I dont think a V6 is going to be able to pull up next to a z06 and actually have a good chance to beat it... just my .02

Be prepared to walk multiple times until they give you what you want. The first few dealers you go to might not sell you a car so be in contact with many dealer. Don't be afraid to play them against each other. Be a pain in the ass if need be.

I just Upgraded my lt to ss this week ... Here is one way to look at the glass half full ... if u get more for your trade in or sell privately and its more than what you owe on the loan.... Then think of it atleast your not upside down on the loan... And you just paid to drive a rental camaro for the time you had it :-)

Look at the good side. The glut and plethora of V6 Camaro's on the used market will bring the price down.
Lots of Camaro dreamers will suddenly find a lot of affordable, fun to drive cars to buy.

Expect to lose some $$$. Maybe you can get 80% of what you originally paid for your LT. That's the down side. That's about the only down side. MPGs went down a little, insurance stayed about the same. HP went up a lot, TQ went up even more. Expect permagrin I liked my V6, but I love my SS

I agree...might even get one myself one of these days for a dd...(if I super-charge my SS)...

But I wonder...how come there seems to be a plentiful supply (maybe not) of good, low miles, used SS's out there??...just curious...

Now remember yes you will be upside down on the long run but its nothing that you will feel all at once. All this is on the long run and not to mention the smile ur gonna have for the next 6 yrs. Besides man $$$ comes and goes and you only live once so enjoy and make sure u can afford the monthly note.

If losing a few thousand bothers you more than not not owning an SS, then by all means DO NOT do it. If not owning an SS bothers you more than losing a few thousand dollars, then TRADE. Drive what YOU want to drive and can afford to comfortably own and maintain and mod. If you're making decent money and you have some money saved away and losing a few thou ain't a big deal, just do it. Have you looked into FI? There's some pretty cool stuff coming out. Like well over 400 RWHP kind of stuff. It'll kill your warranty but you'll have the same issue if you mod your SS too. Good luck and drive what makes you happy as long as you can afford it.

+1. Trading in a less than year old car is just an awful, awful financial decision. If you absolutely have to do it, then buy a used SS, not a new one and see whether it's worth it to do a private party sale rather than a trade-in. Many deals to be had out there.
