Thumbs up

If it's any help;
I own a 2005 Dodge Daytona Ram truck, which is my daily driver.
Obviously Chrysler went bankrupt, but I still had warranty work this past Wednesday, EGR valve.
I had the extended warranty and it was still valid. And I bought the truck from a different dealer. (The dealership that I bought my truck from, sold the business and is no longer a Dodge dealer.)
So, not sure if GM will follow in the same footsteps, but I am sure they would take care of your warranties.
***As for me, I think I will wait to order my Camaro. I want GM to fix all the little bugs and maybe by then the Z28 will be an option???

Thanks for posting this! See folks? No warranty issues.

OK so the warranty for Chrysler and GM is good.

Now....I am offered a smokin' deal on a Chally R/T 6 sp for $28k ...do pull the trigger and and ride into the summer or do I sit here and wait ...staring at this glow box with the rest of you?

Can you settle for the Challenger's performance? It's piss-poor when compared to the SS and Mustang GT.

The real question is can I settle for just hearing, reading about, sitting in, now watching Camaros in my town instead of actually driving a cool car - like the Chally. Oh, and I refuse to pay for a Camaro off the lot for MSRP + 5,000!

See the link in my signature if you haven't been there already. This could be for a great many reasons, and most likely isn't tied to GM's troubles.

There was also the parts supply disruption to think about -- it's tough to build a car without parts. I'm not aware of any evidence stating that the Challenger's hold was due to the Bankruptcy filing, but I could be wrong...

I say buy it now, and wait. There's no reason not to, unless you (God forbid) lose your job or something bad like that.

Challenger production was stopped due to lack of parts from suppliers who did not get paid, and they don't know if they will be paid in the future.

Absolutely caused by bankruptcy chapter 11.

The bankruptcy judge had to approve expedited payment, rather than wait for the normal chapter 11 procedures which take 30-60 days minimum.

There will still be a delay in parts supply, until they get the cash, make the parts, ship them to Brampton.

I hope GM is learning from this, and is preparing to keep Camaro parts suppliers paid and content.

If it weren't for the current administration they would be chapter 7 - ALL DONE - NO MORE!

The warranties are backed by an insurance company that the CURRENT ADMINISTRATION has contracted to guarantee coverage.

Definitely, I'm not buying this thing to be able to say 'FIRST!', I'm getting it because it is an amazing car! And if it becomes the most popular sports car in America and I see it everywhere, I really won't care a bit, in fact, I'll be happy because I know our auto industry will be doing really well

I stand corrected. Didn't the gov't just loan out 5 billion to suppliers, or something like that?

I could not agree more. There seems to be be Challengers sitting on lots everywhere, but yet there are still undelivered orders. I see the same thing happening to the Camaros, very soon.

Anyway you look at it, most people do not want to waste money (including me). And I just see that paying MSRP or more for the Camaro now may be a mistake and a waste of money. If I had it all over again to do, I would wait, and likely save thousands off the pre-orderers that have aggreed to pay MSRP (I am in that bunch now, but with a non-refundable deposit).

Yeah, maybe I would not have the exact color/trim/option car as I originally ordered, but it would close (there really are not that many options).

Oh, well, I wait with all the other Camaro pre-orders

I am 100% sure that GM in a leaner form will survive. It may take bankruptcy or more of our tax dollars to make that happen. I am going to probably buy off the lot but will wait till the dealers have many on the lots so I can get a decent and simple deal. It is easier for me to wait till some time in the future that is not determined. If I placed an order I would go crazy.

I'm not at all worried about the future of the Camaro line, well at least the next 3 model years that is! Anyways, even with the constant threat of bankruptcy looming over GM's head I'm quite sure that Chevrolet either in part of a leaner GM or as an independent company on it's own, will survive and continue to build the cars we've all known and loved Camaro included!

Now, on the other hand, if I ordered a G8, I think I would be looking for something else.

Ok people! ... Let's keep the faith!

Yes, the entire industry is teetering. Suppliers may go bankrupt too.

I did read that GM is closely following the Chrysler procedure, to learn from it.

Having cash on hand for suppliers, and meeting with them now, is key.

One other factor...Brampton builds 300's and Chargers alongside Challengers.

They cannot cost effectively build only Challengers, but GM CAN build only Camaros.

People who ordered Challengers have been bailing for a while now.

Why should they wait when the dealer has them on the lot.

It's about allocation.

I wonder if people are sticking with this (or)deal because of their deposit $.
Out of the 14,000 pre-orders only a handful have been delivered to us 'special ' pre-order customers and 10,000 Camaros have been made. There are 734 Camaros on autotrader now- virtualy all dealers cars. Asking price $27,000 for the LS to $41,000 for the SS.
