As others have posted you have a few options.

1. Order a new car
2. Do a search for a new car I spent two days locating the car I wanted and working out a trade with them.
3. Take the car as is

I have owned a 05 Trailblazer w/ sunroof used it quite a bit, 06 Silverado w/ sunroof use it 2-3 times a year, 07 Suburban used it so far 2-3 times.

I searched for a Camaro w/ and w/ out a sunroof the dealership had one being built with the roof so I lucked out. How many times will I use it (see above it's up to you could could have lived with out it.

Since the car is coming in like this, and they made a mistake, use this to your advantage and get free window tint or something for the inconvenience.
This is the exact same for me. I live in the desert so its not only dusty, but its also bright and sunny. If I open my sunroof dust falls into the car, and if I leave the visor open my car becomes an oven. I wouldn't even think about drawing the glass back to be exposed to full on 100 degree plus sunlight. I really only use it after sunset. Oh, and when its not dusty.

I honestly think there are better things that are deal breakers on a camaro. My salesman called me the other day because 2 cars came in that ordered customers bailed on and he offered them to me. They were nearly identical to mine but I turned them down because they were automatics. Its all personal preference so don't think I'm trying to sway you.

If you live somewhere with perfect weather like san diego I'd might seriously consider the sunroof a crux. But its either way too windy, way too dusty, or way too damn hot to worry about it here =/

Man, I want to seriously thank you all for all this input, it helped alot with my decision, I actually found a dealership here in georgia Ford dealership that is selling the exact vehicle I want, BUT they want 45K for It, I told them blow it out their rear, I'm gonna get it without the Sunroof and pay 35K out the door a sunroof shouldn't cost 10k and like Capstone said, I'll be ecstatic driving it home...

I work in the weld shop in a automotive plant and after seeing what the difference is between the sunroof and no sunroof for structure reasons no way in hell i would touch an after market one ever. If u must have one re-order and get another car with factory sunroof.

If you cut a sunroof into a car GM states not to, I wonder what warranty concerns that raises....

I don't know how much this one costs or how much headroom it eliminates, but it looks pretty cool:

There's plenty of head room in there. I'm 6ft and I still had at enough room to mess with my hair without hitting my hands against the roof in camaros with and without a sunroof.

Yeah, I'm 6' and I have a stock sunroof -- and I'm with you on the headroom. No problems with it.
But the link I posted is an aftermarket sunroof made by webasto and it goes into the roof instead of retracting over the roof, making me think they would have to lower the ceiling a little bit to accomodate it?

Have them order you another 2SS, aftermarket does not come to factory. Your order should take priority so i'm sure you won't have to wait as long as you did. Just my 2cents.

dealer installed sunroof

I have read all the post - positive and negative - here is my situation. I ordered my 2ss 8/3/09 from Classic Chevrolet in Houston. It states on my confirmed order sheet that I ordered a sunroof. They ordered it without. Their mistake, and they admit it. To make it right they want to have one installed at their expense. They have provided me with a link showing one installed on a 2010 Camaro, it looks great. My car arrived in Houston yesterday and is literally days away from the dealer.

If the roof is all factory warrantied as the dealer claims, what is my worry?

I had a 2001 Z28 without t-tops and they literally had to replace the entire top to cure the bubbles in the paint. Although a hassle, all covered by GM warranty.

Please advise!

seriously, it comes down what will you live with? can you live without the sunroof? if yes, then take this one, but ask for a discount for their mistake. if not, then order a new one.

the problem with after market, or the situation dwebster has, is the warranty is guaranteed by someone else (i.e., the dealer), not GM. if the dealer goes out of business, changes ownership, or whatever, you can't get it taken care of by GM. hell, the dealer may even make it really hard for you in the future if there is ever a problem.

i say you order a new one, but tell them you want to rent this one until your new one comes in since it was their mistake. $200 a month should cover it!!

I would rather them give me an additional $1,000 off the sale price of the car for thier mistake, and take delivery on the car without a sunroof. It's not that an aftermarket sunroof would or wouldn't be covered under factory warranty, it's the fact that the structural integrity of the car has been compromised with the installation of an aftermarket sunroof. If someone was to get killed in your car due to the weakness in the structure of the roof collapsing if you happened to flip it over, what good is it to have a factory warranty on the sunroof?

Thanks for your imput. I have emailed the dealer (Classic in Sugarland) and requested they deduct $900 from the price of the vehicle. While I still won't have my sunroof, at least I wouldn't have to wait any longer. Ordered since 8/3/09.
Thanks again
