Dealer Installed Sunroof

So after 4 months of waiting my 2SS is made and the dealer forgot to get the sunroof installed, my options are them ordering me a new SS or a dealer installed sunroof. Can I have any thoughts or opinions on this matter from your own point of views on aftermarket sunroofs or issues with sunroofs?

Thanks

Do not let them cut a hole in your roof. It'll look tacky with the reverse mohawk and will have a very high probability of causing water leaking issues.

If you make them order you a new one with the correct options, it's going to push back getting the car even further. I would say don't settle, but how much of a deal breaker is the sunroof going to be?

Sunroofs are awesome but if you get one installed make sure you get it tinted so the sun won't bake the fabric but then again do you want to wait another 4 months im still waiting for mine

i have not seen a factory quality aftermarket sunroof, we have seen many come though the dealer on other used cars and they always look bad and the headliners never fit right, sag, switch panels dont stay in place

There is a memo out to the EDI’s about the installation of aftermarket sunroofs in the 2010 Camaro. The roof structure is designed as a unit and the installation of an aftermarket sunroof will compromise the structural integrity.
Get a different car if you must have a sunroof.

Robin

so I'm pretty screwed, I'd say it's a deal breaker but I'm pretty much stuck, it's being shipped from oshawa to dearborn Mi which is only 4 hrs away, can't they just send it back and have that issue fixed? I emphasized on that issue that I wanted a sunroof 2ss manual RS, Ground effects, black on inferno orange and I had a feeling something was going to go wrong, it's seriously frustrating at the end of the day... So if the dealer installs it, it's still bad?

Sunroof car has a totally different roof than non sunroof car, unless dealer is gonna change out the whole thing which i doubt don't let them just cut a hole and put a sunroof in period. Make them fast track you another car asap, find another car at another dealer to trade with or start looking yourself there are more and more of these going places everyday. Don't settle.

I would be frustrated also, but perhaps you could use this predicament as a bargaining chip since you will now save $900 and perhaps they will give you another $500 or more to take this car. The reverse mohawk appearance is pretty attractive IMHO...I do feel for you though as I'm sure it's been a long, agonizing wait and now this!! I do agree that whatever you do, DON'T let them put a hole in the roof...

LoL I can only laugh about how stupid this has become, I bought a ticket to go up to michigan and pick up the vehicle so I can drive it back to GA. I have lots of family there so I thought it'd be a fun trip to see everyone pick up the car and bring it back, I get the gms discount but since I'm purchasing the car it's like my baby I want it perfect and perfect means my sunroof, I always feel like somethings missing with no Sunroof. To look for another one or have them trade is gonna cost me more time and money... delimas delimas

any attempt at any sunroof in the reverse mohawk is gonna be palgued with short and longterm problems. Re order or just take the car as it comes and get some free stuff or discounts.

You don't really need the memo. Here's a picture of why you can't just cut a hole in the roof of a non-sunroof car and put a sunroof in. There is a structural support the runs down the center of the roof in non-sunroof cars. The sheetmetal that actually forms the roof is not structural. In sunroof cars, this support is replaced by 2 supports that run on either side of the sunroof.

If not having a sunroof is a dealbreaker, then cancel your order since the dealer screwed up. Order from someone local or find what you wanted on a lot.

Unfortunately, you do share some of the responsibility for what happened here. You should have verified a print out that had your order options on it or you should have noticed that the final price they quoted was not high enough to include the sunroof option.
