I just got my SS last week, and it's been below freezing most of the time since then here in Seattle. Roads have generally been dry, with frozen puddles still around in a few shady places.

In the morning when I've first driven the car, I've been getting a little "hopping" from the wheels since they hardened with the flat spot from sitting still overnight. That goes away in about 2 minutes though.

Some people have said the tires turn into gripless hockey pucks when it gets below 37 or so. I haven't found that to be true yet, though I'm always careful.

Do the tires grip less than in higher temps? Very possibly...I haven't had a chance to see yet. I also haven't spent any time with rain on the roads as well, but I'll be taking care.

Overall, I drove it sanely most of the time with a few passes where I dumped the throttle. Only once did I break the rear wheels loose when I wasn't trying to, but I also wasn't surprised when it did, and that was making a sharp right had turn uphill onto a flat road with traffic coming and though I had room, I wanted to get up to traffic flow speed quickly and broke em loose a little on the turn.

I do have a snow and poor weather car, but I can see myself driving in anything but the more extreme conditions here in Seattle...so far it's handled great.

The worst thing I had to deal with was some idiot lady who was making a left turn (2 left turn lanes) and cut right into me from the left lane to the right lane without even looking. She wouldn't even pull up next to me but hung about 200 yards back afterwards even though there was no other traffic.

Just took our former AVIS RENTAL V6 out for a spin (bwahahahaha) this morning. Handled really well - I was truely impressed! But then again, it has all season radials on it!

I had the Camaro out yesterday on dry pavement with an ambient air temperature of 14 degrees....tires seemed fine after having driven for about 20 mins.....I would never push the tires as hard in the winter because no rubber is as pliant in cold temperatures, but I think as long as you drive normally you will be fine.

PS....in this cold dense air the engine really puts out some power...that might assist in spinning the tires a little too. It was fast before, but it pulls like a locomotive in the cold air.

I took mine out twice last week -5. There is a reason why Camaro Law 13 exists: Every Camaro Owner knows that Camaro's and the Winter Season do not mix.... I still have summer tires on and it did fine on the dryer roads but the snow covered...not so much...couldn't even get in the garage out of the driveway. She is put away until the sun melts the snow. Winter is why I have a Silverador 4x4.

I have a 1LT V6 with the RS package and i was driving in really cold temps for 2 days, other than a harder ride than in the summer and the car feeling a little "loose" i really haven't had any problems with it. Unless it snows i gotta drive it.

Today's going to be 86 degrees today with beautiful sunshine. But it does suck in the summer (June - September).

But the weather is so nice during the winter months (Nov - April).

The perfect plan is to spend the winter months in S. Florida and the summer up North (Michigan, etc). That's what a lot of the retired people do in my area.

I hate these cold temperatures.... Innitially I wasn't planning to garage queen the Camaro through the cold.... But I really did underestimate the crappiness of the pzero's in non ideal temperatures....

Back in early/mid october I was having traction issues in the rain...

First day of frost when we first hit - zero temps out here my back end spun out suddenly pulling into a busy street..... I didn't intend to have the car out as late as it was.... but was delayed waiting to pay for snows to be put on our OTHER vehicle... (had met up with a family member , is why I was in the maro).

Anyway after that nearly VERY bad spin out incident... the car hasn't left the garage until I sort out whether I'll be getting winters and driving it or whether I'm going to find another way to get around.

Definately be careful in those pzero's.. I have lucked out so far but I'm not pushing my luck any further.

I wish it was that warm here im tired of the cold, its been below 25 degrees for over a week. usually hanging around 0 F. The 3.6 really scoots when its cool, i tried a couple of pulls last night it was about 12 degrees out and there is a considerable difference.

If SOB slides into me the 1st thing I'm doing is checking his tires...if they are bald A/S or summer tires I will sue his ass off.

The summer tires will still grip and roll but if you got your car in the warmer weather and drive it in the cold You will notice an unsettling difference in handling. I wouldn't recommend driving in cold weather with them. Everything feels off and it just makes me think something bad will happen and I'd feel like a dumba$$. Looks like snow isn't the only reason I'll be packing it away for the winter.

It is for this reason that I won't drive mine in the winter. I know not everyone has that choice, and for that I say "be careful of everyone & everything around you".
