X2... I saw this car in person and everything speaks Trans Am..it was not a throw together badged up car. It is exactly what GM would have done if Pontiac was still around. They would probably would have been built on the same type platform.

OK maybe not Rice. However it is Wheat or Grits. Its cosmetically made up to be something its not. Thats rice I dont see how you can rationalize this. Rice and ridiculous share 3 of the same letters for a reason. Pontiac is dead get over it, the firebird is dead get over it. This is worse or perhaps no different than putting a Z28 badge on a 5th gen camaro at this point in time or even down the road when a Z28 becomes available. No differnt than ricers putting a Type R on a Civic or SS badges on a regular camaro, SHO badges on a base taurus even if cosmetically you change it. Youre cosmetically altering something to appear to be something its not. Is anyone else following this? Its false pretense, In automotive its considered clone which is rice. Rice doesnt have to be japanese or asian. Lambo doors on even a yugo is rice. These are awesome cars and they are really going down the fast an dfurious path. I dont encourage it and at the end of the day I hope more people will see that an authentic and true to its nature 5th gen is always the best way to go. Stripes, hash marks, TFE, and thing like that no problem. But bastardization of the 5th is ridiculous . This car is starting to become the next Honda Civic for stupidity. lil styling changes here and there no probs, stereos yah. Making this car intoi something like a lame gimmick of Smokey and the Bandit is taking 10 steps back IMO. Its making a mockery of an amazing car. Agree? full respect. Disagree and keep this garbage going and turn this diamond into shitty cubic zirconia. Modifying is one thing making this car a circus star is another. Im thinking theres two distinct sides to the whole thing. At least I feel confident about standing my ground and keeping a somewhat purist and uncorrupted viewpoint. Ill stay with power, no BS and attitude which from when I last checked was what this car was about. Not a parade of stupidity.

That car is fine for kits and collectors. 5th gen is 5th gen...leave that 80's TA in the 80's. It was great then. Dont muck it up and try to put it in a blender with 2010's generation.

Chrysler has done a great job keeping their distance between the old Challenger and the new.

Come on GM 2009 was a great year...keep it rolling.

Thats exactly what im trying to project. Gaying up a 5th not only makes a mockery of it but takes away from the essence of the real stuff. Maybe im a lil extreme but I cant stand devaluing the classic stuff. The greatest firebird/ trans am is the Smokey and the bandit late 70's style. IT CAN AND WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. LETS MOVE ON AND ALLOW THE ORIGINAL STUFF TO RETAIN ITS MAGIC AND EMOTION.

I totally agree with you except for what's in bold. I had every gen of trans am.
I had more trans ams than any other car and these were about the worse of the bunch. They were the greatest as far as looks but thats about it. They were slow, handled like a brick, interiors where about as cheap as they come ,and did I mention slow as a snail. Rocky and Smokey and the bandit made them what they were. Why do you think the 78 and 79 camaro Z/28 wasn't nearly as popular because Rocky and Bandit didn't drive them.

Right, so when I go to put the GXP bumper on my car because mine got cracked (and I like the look) my car will become rice? This conversion kit by no means makes a mockery of the trans am, it looks exactly the way GM would make one and it's probably damn fast too. If anything it pays a hell of a lot of homage and respect to the Trans Am.

I'm in the camp that digs that trans am concept kit. I have a black 2010 SS, and I would get mine trans am'd if I could afford it. I think it would be bitchin to fly around in that thing.

Well I will say I know the guys involved in this project and they have the utmost respect and love for Trans-ams. They also have quite a collection of their own. Too bad GM dumped Pontiac
