I know the police lobby like it for radar/laser purposes. And for criminals who are too stupid to take their front plate off, or not park in camera range when they do their thing.

Funny/sad story...4 years ago my truck got broken into, they stole a laptop bag (joke's on them, it only had paper and highlighters in it). Security camera catches the whole thing, green taurus missing a hub cap, front license plate is xxx-xxxx, guy in full view gets out, smashes window, grabs bag, gets back in car, drives off. Should be easy right? I get a copy of the video on CD from the business, take it to the station, and assume case closed. They review the video, and say they can't pursue it because it would be hard to prove in court. True story, not BS. No doubt they didn't have enough resources to pursue it because they were all out writing tickets for no front plates .

I think its a stupid law. I told my dealer to leave the mount off, and I carry it in the truck incase I get stopped, I will just tell them I need to have them install it. So far after 13,800 miles, haven't been stopped yet in IL. The NAZI state.

Having driven my Camaro since August '09 and with 7,100 miles on it, I have yet been pulled over, and I've passed many a cop car.

see, i agree but really want to avoid the fuzz if i can....but i want a NON drilling solution to this front bumper thing, but STILL where the plate is "supposed" to go.. not over the lower grille.... i have an idea in the works and then just saw that adhesive bracket -- which is still permanent... grr.

Just moved from Oklahoma to Texas, and in OK fronts weren't used, but the plates were twice as much. Basically, the same money is paid on one than if on two.

I wish that would happen in NY, that is the one thing i miss about Florida, not only did we only have one plate we did not have inspections (no sticker on the glass) and our registration sticker was on the plate itself (not on the glass either).

Now you're talkin; double the income, halve the cost.

I'll bet CA tries this .

Write your congressman, they have talked about eliminating it. The more that write, the better chance there is that it will go away. Pretty bad when you have to put plates front and back along with the windshield sticker. I don't mind the windshield sticker but since we have it the plate needs to go.

Do you have any problems with a front plate. The 69' camaro has just a USA #1 for the front, and a Lexus RX 300 with nothing. Living here for five years and nothing. Just don't be a firefighterhere. firefighter + GT 500 with no front plate= this one cop being an ass.:(:(:(

In Oregon they charge us $23 bucks for a pair of the CHEAP plates... Prices go up from there for the different ones... I think its like $55 for crater lake plates?

I'll have my custom bracket on the car tomorrow, will post pics. I don't like the idea of using an adhesive plate bracket on my car either... What if I ever want to take it off?

Pretty ridiculous, but at least you don't get tickets for lack of a disgusting insult to your Camaro!
