Glad they didn't think like you back in '68! a 1 or 2 year body style might be a hot ticket!

Some are going way off course here... a refresh won't be more than a front bumper for sure and a rear bumper (but unlikely) and maybe (a big maybe) a new hood design and possibly a new engine offering. That's about all we can expect, why? Because anything else would be too costly this close to the 6th Gen release. There is no way any of these renderings of drastic changes would ever be a refresh...

Have you checked out the new Impala and Traverse?

Good news is, Corvette and Camaro have always seemed to escape the Chevy family-grille design "requirement", whatever it was.

Look at it from a sales/marketing timeline point of view.

- The C7 is center of attention this and next year.
- The new Mustang will certainly have the spotlight the following year.
- That leaves the Camaro somewhat in the shadows. A 2016 debut for the 6th gen would be too close the new Mustang and affect sales. That would set the stage for a debut in 2017 which is the 50th anniversary of the Camaro. That along with the Made in USA (again) tag would make a great marketing campaign to build momentum for the next gen. [It would also give time for GM to work out the bugs in the new plant.]

We all know timing and momemtun is everything when it comes to generating sales for a new model; especially for an iconic car like the Camaro. Only time will tell; but this will interesting either way.
I agree with your last sentence just not your rational above. They will not push the release back a year to allow mustang to get all the hype for two years. They will release it in 2016 to impact Mustang sales asap. In addition it is better to come out 2016my and the hype of the new design will drive sales and then cash in on year 2 (2017) with the anniversary car. This will keepmthe momentum moving.

2017 is pushing it waaaay too far. I'd say 2015 SORP as a 2016 model.

Yes thank goodness! It was OK for trucks, but too old a look for cars.

...and before the carping starts (or am I too late?!) about GM being "late to the game" with the Gen-6 Camaro vs. the totally re-engineered MY '15 Mustang, keep in mind the Mustang has run, with one mid-cycle redo ( and some very minor tweaking here 'n there) for soon-to-be TEN MODEL YEARS (2005 thru 2014). Their MC change was for MY '10, so they ran in 5-year cycles TWICE. THAT fact, folks, explains how Ford could blow their brains out, expense-wise, building the unique (and short-term) BOSS and 662 hp GT 500 engines.

Camaro is running in a 4-year and a 2-year (Model Year, that is) cycle which, based on recent events by most everyone in the current car biz, is pretty damn often! And, as Scott has said on many occasions, "We're not done yet"...as y'all will see on the 27th...

I can't wait!

Will we all want to be trading in our current 5th gens?

Nope, I think they hit a home run with the 5th Gen, it's exactly what I wanted to see in the Camaro. Enough 69 look but still customizable to be unique for each owner..

I'll tell you what the 6th Gen needs inside...
Air Conditioned Seats, keyless entry(not just remote push button unlock) and push button start, Full color HUD and DIC, Lumbar support, lane departure warning, cross traffic warning, front end collision detection, adaptive cruise control, HD radio (drop Siruis). Just off the top of my head.
