Arguably some inside might say this gets too close to the Corvette, but I'd still like to see a supremely focussed car like the Boss. Now what you haven't seen are the numbers for the ZL1.............I think they may change a few minds on this topic. Everyone is really hung up on the weight and I hate to say it, I think there is a as much Mustang envy as there is historical reference to the 67 to 69 Z28. That car was not "light weighted". It was a specific engine with a few RPOs for brakes and some axle choices. So would I like to see a better handling Camaro? Yes. Does it need to be lighter? No, not in my opinion. Too much cost and effort. Would I like the SSX? Yes, please. But track focussed more than simply light weighted. Quote:

Do the letters/numbers "Z2SC" mean anything to you, Number 3?

How much would a ZL1 with a 475HP LS3 instead of the LSA save me $8,000.00?

GM would have to do a lot to get the LS3 to 475. Think of it this way, the LS7 is at 505 HP and that took displcement and a lot of wonderfully expensive hardware like titanium rods etc. A 40 HP bump is easy in the aftermarket, not so much from the OEM. It has to be durable, pass emissions, provide great fuel economy, meet noise pass by etc. Verrrry hard to do. Let's put it this way, if it were that easy, GM would have already done it for the Corvette. Now I would be interested in what an LS7 would be like without all those high cost extras. How much HP would a 7.0L with more conventional materials similar to an LS3 make? And how much less would it cost? Hmmmmmmm just thought of that on my own. It would still by hard though as it would be verrrrry low volume. Ok, just talked myself out of it.
