well you could always buy all the lights and tubes and try it on the panels. I doubt any light will escape through the panel like the 2SS or 2LT panels but I think you could still get the ABL to escape through the top and give you a similar effect. And if it looks bland or not so good, you can just upgrade to the trim down the road. Theres quite a few members who have upgraded their trim on their cars from the silver to yellow so you may be able to find them cheaper then what goes at the dealer

I have all the pcs. to start mine just waiting for a little warm weather here to get started on it.Can't wait love the look. Thanks
Thanks....I think no matter what it's going to be heavier on the drivers side because the tube is under 4" long. Just gotta get creative with installation to try to even it out as best you can.

You could do the dash ABL with the LS or 1LT/1SS dash if you do the 'no sand' method. You will need the upgraded door panels to do the doors though. I have an LS, and just bought the interior trim and door panels from a member on here. Love the new look.

This seems to be the best place to post some pictures of work done on my car this last weekend at 2SSRS's place in AZ. We installed a Heritage Grill and a T-Rex lower Grill, plus did some upgrades on the ABL.

Does this plug into the 4 pack gauges or do you need an additional connector?

I've been reading this thread and am more confused than ever.. I have a 2011 2SS. I have the ABL in the doors, but would like to change the LED colors. I have found the thread on how to do that: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115234

I have also found the blog and downloaded the PDF on how to extend the lighting to run across the entire side of the driver and passenger door.

However... on doing the dash ABL, pffft. You can forget it.

Has anyone in the Dallas area done this and willing to assist someone else? Or Tag, do you do this install if I can come down to the San Antonio area?

Also, I can find green 5mm LEDs to change the color of the door ABL, but I'm not savvy enough to figure out how/where to get a matching green color for the dash.

Heck, for that matter, are the LEDs for the dash the little square surface mount ones or are those 5mm too? I'd like to go ahead and start purchasing this in hopes of getting it done

I'd be happy to help you, but driving to SA for 4 hours?....ouch! It really is an easy mod...I swear it. Man, I just need to get that darn video camera up and running so I can show you how easy it is and how quickly it can be done.

The door LEDs are the same as teh dash ones. You just need the light pipe and three more LED's for the dash...one for each door (total of 5).

It's incredibly nice having finished ABL.

AND!

I got the light to be equal across the dash (since the insert would not have the light come out evenly.

I took an ice cube...held it against the front and back of the end of the plastic backer (that has the clips to it) getting it all nice and cold. Oh...I held it to the far left end...front and back. By doing this, you are hardening the 3M tape that holds the backer to the painted insert. After getting that sucker nice and cold, I CAREFULLY used a screwdriver (again, being VERY careful not to scratch the paint) and pried up the backer from the 3M tape. I pulled up about a foot of it (not all of it). I applied another 5" thin stretch of 3M tape on the left side between the backer and 3M tape which made the insert stick out that much farther from the dash. I have a perfectly clear straight line all the way across now. Yep...I AM DONE.

I'm happy to help anyone in the SA area and anyone who would happen to come into town. I just think you'd be nuts to drive all the way down for a 15 min install!

Hey...you going to C5Fest? If so, I'd be MORE than happy to do it for you then. Just let me know before hand so I can bring the proper tools.

I might, and a waaaaaaay big might, be able to do it if I had a once and for all, for sure, for the 2011 How To Guide, maybe.

For the door i like to use 2-3MM and 2-5MM led's and on my dash i use 2-3mm and 2-5 mm led's.

So you know the doors use the GM blue LED's from the factory, So you cant put in blue LED's in the dash and expect a match, You can drive to my home and i can help you out.
