I would agree with those statements.

Wich tells me that ford doesnt care about performance. They just want the suckers that buy them to feel like they have something to be proud of. The second link is just a video showing how most of the people that bought a GT500 are probably feeling disapointed in thier investment. I will give you that the GT500kr is a cool car but if im in the market for a SPORTS CAR for that much money, you can be sure im going to buy the most bang for the buck, and the GT500 is not it.
What do you not understand about TWO completely different classes of car?
The Corvette from base form to ZR1 is a purpose built 2 door sports car.
The Mustang from base form to a GT500 KR is a purpose built Pony/Muscle car. Who cares if the Mustang GT500, GT500 KR are in a similar price range to the Corvette and Z06. Again these are two different vehicles with two very different audiences and purposes.

As far as Ford not caring about performance... Every single car company has "suckers" per say, the people who will buy anything as a symbol, and not what they're originally engineered or built for I.E. a Rap/movie star and their "whips". Versus someone like Jay Leno and all his Cars. People that bought the GT500 are far from disapointed if you ever care to venture onto any other board besides a Bias GM based forum. Most people with 45k Large burning a hole in their pocket today buy a car for their driving pleasure and not with the idea of it being an investment. Ford has never let Mustang fans down, sure we dont have a stock GT that will hang with a stock SS. Yet we still have a Mustang period. Therefore everytime Ford creates a great Mustang that sells like crazy, some of you GM people tend to hate.

At the end of the Day the Mustang will always be the Original Pony/Muscle car. The Car that started it all, created its own segment with a pack of imitators. Some that endured the test of time and some that did not. With some taking a farely long break. Iam a fan of all Muscle Cars and really like the 5th gen, but at the same time I think that people who are igonorant and simply hate another company just because that other company makes a Great product are laughable.

The Z06 was most undeniably built as a supercar, it's a completely different car from the base vette

Sorry. Different from the base 'Vette or not, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that, but it may just be a difference in the definition of supercar.

Quote:
Supercar is a term generally used for high-end sports cars, whose performance is superior to that of its contemporaries. It has been defined specifically as "a very expensive, fast or powerful car with a centrally located engine", and stated in more general terms: "it must be very fast, with sporting handling to match", "it should be sleek and eye-catching" and its price should be "one in a rarefied atmosphere of its own", but the correct usage of the term is both subjective and disputed, especially amongst enthusiasts. The use of the term can be dependent on the era; a vehicle that may have been considered a supercar in one decade may not be considered the same in another. The term supercar may refer to factory-built, street-legal sports cars. Some vehicles referred to as supercars include features required for race cars such as roll cages.
Also, the RPO Z06 was initially a racing package in '63, not something to boost the 'Vette into a "supercar" class. When it came back in '05, the engine was rated at a "mere" 385hp and, frankly, the 'Vette just isn't in the same class as Lambos, Ferraris, the Veyron, and even the Ford GT, in my opinion. Yes, it's fast. Yes, it's sleek. Yes, it can race. But the supercars also seem to have an air of supreme luxury for the most part.

Maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree, but I feel as though, even though it may run with the big dogs, certain things like price and the fact that it's essentially a modified sports car keep it from being a "supercar".

Than what is the ZR1? a super-duper car?

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

As I drive around I might have seen one GT500, so I don't see how this rare car could be considered competition. It's a red light race that will never happen.
