Don't put their Maxgear 75w90 in the trans; use their SynchroMax instead. I know it says it's for an auto trans but that's what GM requires for this transmission.

Read it carefully.. I had mine done at the dealer for $66 total. They said they used something new that they are using in the vettes. I think it's GM fluid. It was cheaper because it came with the additive in it.
Mobil LS.... I just picked that up tonight thinking i was all set. D'oh, read on my new england post you need to add more friction additive on top of the already added by mobil.
just found this quote to back it up.
holy crap...i'll be....dipped im butter.!

I believe you need 2 of the friction modifier bottles to add. They are small.

So true.
I talked with a GM Master technician and he told me that every
differential service you do you will need two bottles of Mobil 1 synthetic
75W90 gear oil and one bottle of GM LS friction modifier additive.
Also most Chevrolet dealership service departments will just take
out your drain plugs to flush out your differential fluid by the time
you do your differential service your differential fluid will have
shavings and small peices of metal in your differential fluid.
I highly recommend taking your differential cover off and cleaning
the inside of your differential then refilling your differential after
you installed your differential cover.
Everytime I change my differential fluid once a year my differential
cover always comes off regardless of what.

So does the rear diff cover have a paper gasket you can buy or is it just gasket in a tube?

Have stock rear diff fluid at 29k. Didn't know about this till now. Going to change immediately but think I've hurt my rear diff?

You haven't hurt anything. Many many Camaro's won't change till 100,000 miles cause that's what GM says. Changing now is going above and beyond which I whole heartedly support. Swapped mine to RP Max Gear. Got a lot of metalic sludge out so I am happy it is out of there.

Changed mine today with RP. Used half a bottle of the friction additive. No noise here.

Changed mine today with RP! didn't add any friction additive cause it said it was already included! Had a little sludge on both plugs but wasn't that bad! Fluid looked a little dirty, and glad I changed it! Had a little trouble getting my ratchet in between the drain plug and 3" exhaust but managed! Had to add 2 6" extensions on the ratchet to make it easier to loosen and tighten fill plug! Yep,and have to be careful not to lose rubber gaskets on plugs! They will fall off if not careful!

Same side, a little higher up.

Sent from HTC Rezound so if you can't read it or my grammar, spelling, or other sucks, it is the fat fingers trying to type on this small screen. Took me 10 minutes to type this correct!
