I remember posting to you before you started your project - Man you are going out of your way to build what I think is the baddest camaro I have seen in a long time. Good luck with yours as well

Theres tons of topics on this kit, but I have 1 question, can you use after-market headers with this kit? I couldn't seem to find a answer. Thanks.

Normally no you can't use aftermarket headers unless they were designed specifically to work with a turbo. I would get headers from the company you are going to purchase the turbo through so you know you have headers designed to work with their system.

The turbo kits are normally designed to work with the stock exhaust manafolds.

such a company doesn't exist to my knowledge. you could use any brand of shorty headers though. long tubes = no way.

i have a twin turbo in my car and sold my headers. from what i understand shorties will give you NO power gains w/ turbos.

TTI makes them for their Vette kits.

There is no need to run headers long or short. This has been proven time and time again. Plus when the turbo kits are designed they are designed around the proper (intended) exh manifolds. Around Jan 2010 a test was done on a Maggie blown M6 car making 500hp and 480 ft/lbs with all stock exh manifold and cats – that would be test one

Test 1 - stock complete system – 500hp / 480ft/lbs
Test 2 – Stock manifolds with complete bolt up 3” system and hi-flow cats – 519hp / 505ft/lbs – so gain was 19hp and 25 ft/lbs
Test 3 – American Racing Headers 1 5/8 primaries with hi-flow cats – 518hp / 506lbs – so a gain of 18hp and 26 ft/lbs

The moral of the story is the headers make power but no more then the stock manifolds did with less restriction behind it.

AND before I get a BILLION hate emails from everyone that claims to have picked up 35hp and so on – that was with a tune. The test above was NO TUNE just bolt it on!

I agree – and yes in the case of the GMS kit any aftermarket shorties header, designed to bolt up to the stock Exh system will work - bit again it would be money wasted – plus the aftermarket manifold will NEVER outlast the durability of the stock CAST parts.

Long tubes will also work with an STS system but again – no needed

The parts in the link by TTI were not intended to be hi flow headers (per say) they were designed so we could get the turbos high to the motor and it allows us to gravity feed the turbos back to the pan so no scavenge pump is required. Plus you will note by manufacturing our own parts we were able to tool in a huge turbo frame (the square thing)

Pride of doing your own installs makes you enjoy the car even more. Id never knock anyone from DIY. you are a shops dream customer. Pick up a wrench and try it, you'll probably enjoy the challenge.

no headers needed, I actually ported the manifolds to give it a little more room for exhaust, that was it.....
