Disagree all you want... the OP is comparing the v6 Mustang to the v6 Camaro. You can't compare just any v8 out there to the v6 in your Camaro or a performace built v6, such as the GTR. Not all v8's are set up for performance. Take a truck for instance, most have v8's... that does not make them performace v8's. Back to the original question... interior, styling , and everyones hate for Mustangs, in stock trim a 2011 Mustang v6 will smoke a 2011 v6 Camaro in performance. The fact you would never drive a Mustang does not make your v6 Camaro a better performer. Just the facts.

My 2c
From a drivetrain / bench racing perspective, stang wins. (boo!) 1. Auto camaro = open diff 2. Manual v6 = weak 3. Stang v6 has more tuning options - diablo, sct, etc 4. Stang v6 is lighter 5. Stang uses v8 trans (still not perfect) 6. V6 mustang track pack has better gear ratios Looks 1. Camaro is beautiful 2. Mustangs ugly 3. Camaros get more attention 4. Camaros are more rare You went with what you want.

Doesn't matter, he got what he liked. Doubt anyone here regretted their decision on getting a Camaro instead of a Musty...

My wife has a 2009 V6 Mustang with 5 speed. Nothing too fancy and obviously not the quickest or fastest car but it is a nice one. I do not like the new body style on the Mustang though, prefer her 2009 style so much more.
I absolutely love the look of the Camaro. I am confused by your quest though. You want performance but aren't going to get the V8 in either model? Have you driven both? I wasn lucky enough to drive a new GT 5.0 with 6 speed and optional rear gear and a Camaro 2ss/rs back to back this fall. They both have their pluses. The Camaro was a little more cramped for drivers room, but the styling inside and out was in my opinion better than the Stang. The Camaro v6 aftermarket will catch up. But in reality unless you are street racing (and if so then skip the 6's and get the 8's) either one has good power for a V6. I plan to get a V6 manual trans as soon as I can. I drive 20000 miles a year to and from work and the gas mileage is a big factor to me. I'd love a 2SS but after 5 years mine will have over a 100000 miles on it so at this point in my life it is better for me to stick with the 6. Maybe my next one will be a V8 version. |

One thing taht I learned vehicle shopping since I was probably 19 was that you never pay what the dealer ask and never pay what is on the sticker. My camaro had $27,569 sticker price but letting the sales guy think that I can walk out any minute and never come back to him made him change his mind couple times. After going through the normal let me go get my mgr bullcrap that every carsales person does I got the vehicle down to $24,000. At the end I was even surprised but I never in my life paid for full sticker price on any car that I purchased in the past and I had alot of cars from VW to subaru. Peoples in this economy are not too happy to spend too much money and the first peoples that know this are the car companies. Every dealer that I went to offered me 2011 mustang, camaro and challenger all under invoice, I just happen to get lucky at one dealer and get the whole RS package plus more. You just have to be patient and shop around.
I probably could have got an SS, SRT or even the 5.0 but spending that much money is not really practical for me right now. At first you want more power and want to mod the hell out of your car but after awhile it just become tons of money lost and probably lots of traffic tickets unless you are heavily into motorsport or your occupation plays a part in it. Don't get me wrong I will probably do some power adding mods soon but I know eventually it will end there and couple years down the road the car will be sold and there will be something better to drool on. For now I am happy with the little power the camaro make and most importantly I got a good deal on it. |

Did you even read my post? Where did I say the v8 camaro was not set up for performance? I was trying to say just because a vehicle has a v8 does not mean it is set up for performance... hense almost every v8 truck on the road.

Track > 1/4 Mile

If they don't have the track pack they aren't special. One of the car mags did a review and there's even a guy on this forum with a 2011 V6 'Stang without the trackpack and was running around 14.5 I believe. Yes that still is a little faster than a stock Camaro but it's still a drivers race. Now if we're talking a V6 'Stang with the track pack, then yes you're correct it isn't a race.

had a 2005 mustang, that thing does not even compare to the Camaro. Yeah, I agree there are not to many parts out there but there is a lot of power stock and the looks are amazing.. plus it is an entire different community of owners, the Camaro dudes rock.
I am from Baltimore too!
