Until you run him, your not going to know. The driver will play a huge part in a turbo'd car too. If he doesn't shift right and de-spools that turbo mid run hes in trouble. I've ridden in an 01 WRX with exhaust/tune/manual boost controller for a 1320' pass and i gotta say at 12.9 he will give my SS a run for it. You have to remember, you can launch those light subies SO FREAKING HARD and all they do is chirp and run.. do not underestimate AWD on launch. Launching one of our camaros like that just ends up with an awesome smoke show, which while it might be cool, will lose you the race every time. Again, really its all up the driver, if he botches the launch or mis-shifts you might take him, if he knows what hes doing, or gets some beginners luck your gonna have a hard time.

There is a stock 2009 WRX running 12.9 on the fast list. My buddy's stock 09 runs 13.3-13.4 all night long.

LOL, my new neighbor across the street has a black one with dorky spoiler.

I don't care how fast it goes, its still a dorkmobile that sounds like a lawnmower.

Stock WRX does 0-60 in 4.7 and the 1/4 mile in 13.5 @ 100 mph+. With the aforementioned mods he should be in the solid low 13's and 0-60 in the low-mid 4's. That's L99 territory.

No fighting necessary, just pointing it out... and I think you're forgetting:
a) the 20" wheels
b) the body-colored roof ditch molding
c) Unique RS taillamps and
d) the rear spoiler

Leather seats has to do whether it's a 1 or 2 series (1LT vs 2LT)

So still a ways to go to earn the badge, but to each their own

Wheels are ugly in my opinion im getting aftermarket ones Im getting new tail lights as well as bowtie light and i dont like spoilers

"UPDATE on friends WRX" You all will LOL! at this, ok so he installed new Headers , Cats , Downpipe , Mid Pipe , Axleback right? he could not figure out how to change the oil after driving it for 500 miles , remember its a month old, and this happen today, so i go over to check up and help him possibly, he starts the car, key in ignition turns it and nothing happens, after about 30 sec - 1min the car engine finally starts O_O, we were like ugh wtf? so he goes driving it and im with him, 3/4 down a mile car engine makes a noise and goes pweeboom and doesnt start at all O_O. Japan fails once again and i was laughing in my mind what the hell did he do.

It's not the car it's him. 09 or newer WRX with a few tweaks will run mid 12s. I have one and it's faster than a stock SS with $1200 in mods. Yeah I know hard to believe.
I don't know who or what did the install but they probably jacked the thing up. Mine has been pretty good but I just can't do imports. Im selling it. He needs to change the oil every 3000 miles or he will risk clogging the turbo screen and burning an intake valve. I do all my own work and the things are pretty easy to work on and will smoke most stock cars including a Camaro. I know it sux but it is what it is. If he has half a clue he will eat your lunch. No offense intended.

If he needs help troubleshooting pm me or better yet go to the 3gwrx forum. Sounds like a train wreck I'll run from. Subaru will tell him to pound sand on warranty now that he messed with it.

Local guy owns one, 2010 WRX with 5speed manual, let me tell you it's fast, really fast for a 265hp car specially from a dig or low rolls. it pulls hard in the first three gears (1st, 2nd and 3rd) but up top it losses power, So you may have a chance in the top end.
let alone if it's modded, those turbo cars responds to mods very well.

Sounds like he needs tuning software for his mods.

WRX's are extremely driver dependent. A skilled driver can pull mid 13s out of a stock WRX (in good conditions), but an average Joe usually runs well up in the 14s.

The reason WRX's are all so driver is because they need a high rpm launch to run decent times. Without a well executed high rpm launch, a WRX just boggs and is rather sluggish off the line. But with a well executed high rpm launch, the WRX is fast up to 80mph or so. It will be considerably faster than a V6 Camaro in a drag race with a skilled driver behind the wheel.

But with an average Joe (or especially a newbie) behind the wheel, it could be a very close drag race.

Your friend fails for doing so many bolt ons on a turbo car with no tuning. It was probably overboosting and running super lean. Amateur hour over here.

Also, how does one put headers on an ej25 and not know how to change oil? Headers on the ej's are not easy compared to most cars and take far more know-how than an oil change. . .

My neighbor has a 04 WRX STI and he is smart enough to have tuning software and everything on hand to do himself. Plus he does some of his own mods at home. Need that tuning software or you will FAIL!!!

Not unless you want to see him driving a Geo next week due to him blowing his engine and loosing his warranty. I'd rather keep him around to play with.

You guys act like its hard to rev up a awd car to 4,500rpm and let the clutch go to get 1.7 60 foots.
