Im so sick of "call the cops for nothing" people. Sheesh. My bf was a cop in Tampa and some of the stupid calls he got called on were crazy. I was waiting on my friend late last nite in Walmart parking lot (camaro was home safe, I was in the charger, lol) Anyways, 2 rows over was a group of teens throwing things at customers walking by. I found it amusing and in my neck of the woods, we dont call the cops. Its handled the old fashioned way . Unfornutaly I left b4 I witnessed a beat down but my friend did tell mgmt on her way out.

What about the people who go to work at night? Complete discrimination there. People should be able to sleep no matter what, like if their partner snored or something would they call the cops too? In an age where we are all forced to live so close together its gonna be one thing or another.

I go for drives at night because I love to drive around at night, and I used to work GY shift all the time.

Yeah your a smart one, don't call the police and assault someone instead, that way you go to jail too.

Yanno, some of these responses are pretty disappointing.

Recommending childish retribution against someone is just plain silly. Unless you know all the circumstances about the person who called to complain, calling them an idiot ( with various demeaning adjectives) is just downright silly.

Perhaps, some day your "ox may be gored", and you will suffer the same amount of disrespect.

Yeah, I am one of those "old folks", get over it.

I suspect one might surmise I am a silly old fool.

Well, stick it in your trash bin. I find it much more enjoyable to go through life trying to get along with others and being respectful of people, especially my neighbors.

To the OP, this isn't directed at you or your dad. Just some of the rather disrespectful comments that have been thrown around on here.

You can catch more flies with sugar than vinegar.(yeah thats a bit cliche.)

I work nights, and your right it sucks. I don't think anyone here is saying you can't drive your car at night, but just be respectful about it. Revving your modified loud car at night in front of someones house is just rude, and I don't care what type of reasoning or excuse you think you have for it, there isn't one.

It seems to me that there are a lot of hypocrites in this thread... I am sure you wouldn't be angry if your neighbor affected your sleep, right?

Maybe the dad will take the warning seriously and not make it a habit, but two very plausible actions probably preceded this event.
1. It probably wasn't the first time for a late night sound exhibition. People rarely call the police due to one event. It generally takes a few times to piss off a neighbor before they make a phonecall (not a rule, just an observation on human behavior and this could be an exception to my view point.)

2. Alcohol was probably being consumed prior to starting the engine, given the time of night. Probably not in excess, because the cops showed up and are trained to notice excessive inebriation, but enough for dad to show his friends how bad ass his car is. Again, just a theory but unless you already hate your neighbors, the reasons to start your loud car just before midnight can be ascertained by the elements of this story.

I also have a very loud car and my closest neighbor's house gets the obnoxious start up and idle directly behind their house roughly 30 yards away. During the mornings and night, I make my best effort to keep the noise levels down because I enjoy not being the a$$-hole neighbor with the loud car.

My neighbours and my room mates all affect my sleep in one way or another, I just roll over and go back to sleep if I can. And yes just sitting outside your house reving your engine would not be a very considerate thing to do. But just starting your car should not provoke malice. Because I would be going after a few small dogs if waking up incited malice in my soul.

The bad thing about neighbors, they are like buttholes. Everybody has one!
