IMO buying any new car is an awful financial decision!...lol But I think for most of us its a rare treat...The irony I think is that perhaps a lot of buyers of V6's had sound financial concerns when they first made their purchase...but now it seems that's out the window and gone the opposite direction!...

And man...I gotta say it...that mail slot is just wrong. When I see fake scoops and vinyl stripes, I have a 70's flashback. If you were there, you'll understand.

Dude, the decision is totally up to you, but you need to look at your finances to determine if you can afford it.

When I was deciding on buying a camaro I was very stuck up about it, saying V8 or nothing. My decision was either a 30K restored 1st Gen camaro, or a SS camaro, or a 4K rice burner. But thats me.

Hey guys dont forget you get the v8 sound. Especially running straight pipes, but I'd suggest getting the manual so you don't get the drone sound if you have the automatic when it kicks into 4 cylinder mode. Otherwise, you have to tune it out, and void warrenty.

Good luck OP! Get a good trade on ur current car and haggle the price of the SS. If your ok w a '11 they have good incentives on new ones and you can still find them.
Yeaa and your term went up a year or two. What a deal! Great fianancial decision! If you got money then go ahead and waste it but If you are worried then don't.

...just don't get it.

I think what you aren't getting is the fact that many people only started to frequent this board after their purchase, and thus didn't even consider the SS before. That's the case with me, at least. I didn't know enough about the SS to justify the purchase. I was actually considering upgrading myself, but I don't think its worth it. 330HP on my 12 is more than enough. Its just an awful financial decision that is not justifiable.

I bought the v6 because I'd never owned a sports car before. I was infatuated with the looks of this car, and the 300+ HP was and is adequate for me and my driving purposes. The only reason I long for a v8 is the sound and nothing else. That said, I am 99% satisfied with my LLT, the other 1% is just the lacking of the deep sound that the v8 provides. I'm debating the pros and cons of trading up, and for me personally, the hit I'd take on the trade is enough to dicourage me from making a move right now.

Bottom line is you are the only one who knows if this is the right move for you. Everyone here will say trade up. Remember, it;s always easier to spend someone else's $$$!

"Its a V6 thing"

I think the SS is awesome and I congratulate you on your upgrade..that is fantastic if it makes you happy and it isn't dinging your pocket book too much. In that case I say go for it!

As for those who say they've only added a grand or two total in the upgrade to a brand new SS...I just don't believe it and neither should you. Expect to take a big hit unless you go with a used SS which will help a lot.

Many V6 owners (myself included) are just as satisfied with seeing what we can do with the little engine. People expect a V8 to be fast. They don't expect a V6 to be that fast and so when we make it into a suprisingly quick machine thats just as full-filling to me. I have zero desire to upgrade.

One person on here said something about no V6 ever pulling up along-side a Z06 and having a chance to win. We don't care about that. Mustang V6ers are literally a tenth away from being into the 12's N/A and we are working on low 13s. If you can't appreciate that then you aren't a true enthusiast.

Nicely said. Let me invoke Rodney - it's been a long time since I've heard this one... "Can't we all just get along?"

If I was going to buy a new Camaro, it might be just to get that blue

BTW, the difference in a 1LT and a base SS is around $6700.00 so not sure where you're getting that $15k from unless you're talking about the percieved loss he takes.

Still guarantee it comes in WELL under 15k.

But, If I'm a bank, I'm not giving any auto loans for 7 to 10k above the cost of the car.
Cant we just get along... Sheesh....

As far as trading for a V8 my wife informed me that her car comes first. So no Camaro, I am sad well not to sad.... We plan on either purchasing a used Z06 or a nice Grand Sport Corvette... Oh and yes my car will be parked outside...
