Tuner showdown!

I didn't know John was even playing with L99s; interest is further piqued now.

30 with just a tune... Can't wait for the details...

Also interested in the baseline L99... haven't seen those numbers yet...

Mine dyno'd at 315 rwhp completely stock with 600 miles on it, lot lower than I expected, but I know there is a ton in the tune, performance upgrades, etc. Headers made a lot of power on the stick, and the auto with the L99 has a way more restrictive exhaust which means the American Racing Header system will make even more power on the L99. I think we will find that performance upgrades will make a bigger improvement on the L99 than the LS3, for starters look at the the tuning improvements Hennessey got, 30 rwhp and average gains with the LS3 are around 12 rwhp. The L99 is better equipped, but also much more detuned through the PCM/TCM and some of the bolt on parts around it.

So it looks like a tune is the best thing so far for the L99. I'm assuming that as soon as you tune, your warranty is dead...?

Yep... unless you buy a separate ECM or have it flashed back to stock prior to dealer visits...:(
Not really too many good options if you want warranty to be safe.

that the sad part.....yes powertrain warranty is toast unless you have a cool dealer or something like that who over looks it.

GM doesnt want this car I guess to be a Camaro meaning Fast they want it to be more like the mustang.

Come on guys, I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but 100 x a day people are asking if a mod will void the warranty...if you are concerned about the warranty, don't mod your car or just by stuff from GM PP only. Any of these other "killer" mods that produce huge gains through other vendors will open you up to having your powertrain warranty voided...plain and simple.

But when you get outrun by a lightly modded 2010 Mustang GT I don't think telling him "well I was afraid to void my warranty with mods, so I left it stock" will ease the pain any. This car is NOT a speak freak stock, so if you want it to be faster you will have to do thinks that jeopardize your warranty.
