Officer B: Oh man I have yet to see a new camaro. Was it nice.

Officer A: Oh $%^& ya it was beautiful... it was (color) looked cooler in real life than in pictures. He was good guy let me take a look at the car everything. You will probably see him his name is _____ and he's a pretty decent guy.

You now have a bunch of different cops keeping an eye out for the Camaro because its a nice car. Expect you will probably get a few waves maybe even some questions from the other cops in your town.

In Canada cops have the power to pull you over just to see if you have a drivers license.

Is it right he used sirens to pull you over.. maybe not. Could he have pulled you over for another reason and turned it into a Nice car stop.. who knows.

Bottom line is you now have a cop who knows u and met u under good circumstances. That could translate into a break somewhere along the line. Also if you ever get into a problem and need a question answered he will remember you and will give you the time of day
Amen!

But I'd rather not go through the process of crapping myself and getting pissed off (at myself) for getting pulled over and then have them say "oh you weren't doing anything wrong I just wanted to see your car". I don't live in a small town so it's not like knowing one beat cop would help anything. Besides, my dad already knows most of the "top" cops in the state (and yes, it came in handy once before). I just don't take kindly to abusing one's power.
So, it's ok for you to do it ? Bold letters above... mmmm

The last time this topic was brought up an active member was banned for voicing his negative opinion on cops pulling over people to look at cars.

I suggest closing this topic as many members including a mod are cops who approve of this practice, and this topic will not welcome all opinions.

Sooooo......a police officer loves my Camaro?

I'm only too happy to let him or her look at my Camaro --

What right does he have to do that? If he wants to look at your car he can follow you til you stop somewhere or pull up beside you and ask you to pull over like any other person.

Maybe this will change once I get my car...
I disagree. I understand if your late, but you could just tell him you need to go. We you get yours, you'll be happy to show it off

I would always pull over and be nice because

a) I know lots of cops
b) my best friends are cops
c) I'm a volunteer fireman so I work hand in hand with many of them
d) I refuse to install a front plate so I don't wanna piss them off so they write me for it LOL!

It never hurts to make a friend...period!

I for one would not stop someone just to look at their car as I do not want that liability. I just hunt the thugs and arrest as many as I can.
Woa... I'm fairly certain I've never even discussed this topic before. You must be thinking of somebody else's douchebagginess.

It's illegal for a cop to pull you over just to check out your car.

Under the Fourth Amendment, the police cannot pull you over unless they have reasonable suspicion to believe you've violated the law.

"Community relations" isn't an excuse. They also can't do it just to check your driver's license and registration, unless they have a reason to think there's something wrong with them. If they don't have reasonable suspicion, they're violating your constitutional rights.

In my town, which is quite large, I'm not likely to be making a "friend" because I will never see them again.

Furthermore, there is an abundance of unsolved crime around here. Any cop who is wasting his (and my) time by pulling me over for no reason is doing a disservice to the community.
