I completely agree. That size tire on that width rim may not be the safest thing, and may not give you the longest tread life for those tires, but I really like how it sticks out a little past the rim of the wheel. Much more fitting for this car.

Personally I say if you can afford the reduced tread life, and if you can verify the tire isn't going to go nuclear at high speeds and destroy the back sheet metal, then go for it!

I don`t know if what I`m about to state holds true anymore, but it use to be the rule of thumb was that you could exceed the rim width by no more than 3".
In this case you have a 305-35-20 with a tread width of 11" and a section width of 12". Generally you would determine the tread width (11") and rim width (9") and in this case and it`s only a 1" overlap on either side of the rim.

looks good but how about a pic from the side taken maybe 20 feet away to get a full view of what the whole car looks like?

I believe a greater % of sidewall aspect ratio allows for a narrower wheel, thus allowing for a wider tire

+1

all i'm saying is the liability from a business stand point of telling people that they can do things that the engineers that designed the tires say you can't isn't good practice, and will likely bite you in the butt down the road.

have people done it, yes.
will more do it, yes.
does that make it right, no.

everyone needs to make their own decision what they want to do, as it's their car, but i can not recommend things that go against the manufactures recommendations

i don't see any reason to continue this, the tires look good, just need bigger rims, lol

If so did you try to put the 275's on the front and then the 305's on the back ?
I was thinking of trying it that way. Maybe you could test it out for us.
What do you think
x2?

Interesting.

305 is 12.00" wide and the 275 is 10.82" wide.

The bigger tire is 1.18" larger on the wheel making it .59" wider on each side of the rim.

It's not much different by the numbers, but has a positive influence on appearance.
