Our local sherriff recently put lights in a C6 Z06 confiscated in a drug bust and left it unmarked. It was very strange seeing someone pulled over by a vette!

Not in my area! Our sheriffs are hard asses, well most of them. There are still a handful that are not so bad. As for our State Troopers I have run into quite a few outgoing ones. When I had my 99 SS I had a State Trooper pull me over he was in a 02 ST Camaro ( I think that is the right year) which were just issued to them. I was not speeding at all or doing anything wrong, so for the life of me I didn't know why. He come up to my window and asked (very seriously)"do you know why I pulled you over?" No sir for the life of me I have no clue!! Then he smiled real big and said I just wanted to check out your car! I wanted to tell him off as I was on my way to work and would now be late for nothing, however I entertained him and let him check it out. Good guy he was! I seen him around for the next 8 months or so and he would always wave and smile, must have moved him out of the area after that.
And I'm not downing our sheriff around here by hard asses I mean they stick to the law and are always serious about their work....which is good! Our sheriff kicks ass around here, puts our county in the news quite a bit.

ChargerV6 - 136mph top speed, 0-60 8.62, 1/4 - 16.77 @ 85.91mph
Impala9c1 - 139mph top speed, 0-60 8.29, 1/4 - 16.36 @ 88.77mph
ChargerV8 - 146mph top speed, 0-60, 5.85, 1/4 -14.43 @ 100.54mph

The Chargers are the best performers - they have the 6.1 Hemi and run 0-60 in under 6 seconds. Neither the Ford or Chevy can beat it.

As you can see above the 5.7L Charger runs under 6 seconds... all of the other models can't even reach 7 (including the V6 Charger). Also fwiw there is no 6.1L model available for the Charger as it's not offered to law enforcement.

Problem is the Charger Police cruisers are more expensive than the Chevy or Ford. So, when it comes to taxpayer purchases, guess what wins 99% of the time....

That and most taxpayers would be very unhappy paying all of the extra money for a 5.7L just to have it sit and eat gas 99% of the time. When push comes to shove the much cheaper Impala can hold it's own during a pursuit, gets good gas mileage and unless you are running interstate/highway all of the time has enough top speed to deal with almost any situation. When you look at the needs of most departments (who manage to get along fine with CVs) the Impala fits just fine...especially for the money.

The 5.7L Charger is a better performer no doubt about it but it's really not worth the money for a majority of the departments and I would consider it overkill honestly.

I get pulled over and harrassed because these cops here in the DC/MD area just want to see in the inside. Well except one azzhole, who gave me a $160 ticket saying I was doing 52mph in a 30. I told him I hope he wears a nice suit when we go to court.

The 4th Gen B4C still holds the crown for all time best.. (the 5th gen might unseat that...but if it gains even more weight with the eqiupment they add it might fall short)... as far as cars that are currently in production the 5.7L Charger is king.

I got pulled over for street racing when I just got my camaro ( dont flame me i dont care i still street race ) and the cop was like "i didnt see you racing so im not gonna write you a ticket and i just wanted to check out your car" I GLADLY let him haha. Some maryland cops are d-bags but not all of them ive ran into alot of nice ones.

The county cops are the same in Pinellas .... There is NO WAY they would ever pull a car over just because they thought is was a cool car ..... They have a ton of paper work to do every time they do a traffic stop and everything is recorded .......If they are cruising through a Burger joint where there is a car meet it's a little different, then they will stop and chat and look but that is the only time .... So yes the County guys here a very hard core when it comes to their jobs ....
