Just got done with the install. Took about two hours to install. Working around the freaking driveline is more than infuriating. After many swear words and a couple of beers though I knocked it out. Couldn't get a small enough torque wrench for the bottom two hex nuts but I got them pretty tight with the loctite. I got the crossmember torqued back to spec though. Man this thing is night and day different. I had to check multiple times to see if I was in gear in traffic during the test run. Very happy. I have a little transmission noise though, kind of sounds a little bit like a rattle coming from where the aluminum part of the shifter bolts up on the short throw. I didn't put any of the sound reducing stuff on, and I noticed it only really happened when I still had my hand on the shifter when I was above 2K RPM's. Otherwise at cruise it's as quiet as stock so I'm not too worried. I might go back out tomorrow and put that little gasket between the aluminum and short throw. I figure that'll solve my only small issue.

I have the GM factory short throw which I think is a bit notchy when shifting. Anyone know how does it compare to a Hurst?

My hurst is pretty stiff/notchy

That's the TR-6060 though in general. My stock shifter was notchy

Also I found exhaust clamps right behind my cats, is that factory or was GM's exhaust all one piece?

Cause if so then the previous owner had a cat-back, boy that would've saved me some money if they would've kept it installed

I finished my install today as well.
Took some pics and measurements.

I was really paraniod after my jackstand collapse incident so I figured over kill is justified. I ran out of jack stands so used ramps too.

The Hurst is absolutely more abrupt and tight. I thought I was going to go with the flat stick and Hurst ball, but the OEM setup felt really good and I wanted to show that it will mount back up and look stock. I can always throw the Hurst on later if I want. It would only take about 5 minutes.
I did not use the vibration damping material they gave me.. Didn't need it before and it was too cold to screw with it. I did use the vibration isolator between the Hurst and the OEM adapter stick.
I never really did notice any sound from the shifter. It's a bit more notchy on the 1LE that the SS because of the different transmission, but I sure missed my old friend.. feels like the car I remember.
Install is straightforward. There are a couple catches, but with a little thought, you can work through them.
Took me about 2 1/2 hours with pics and a couple stops to warm up.

Cut my throw from 4" to 2 1/2". Shifting is more of a thought process at this point, I can shift towards me by simply flicking 2 or 3 fingers on the shifter, don't even have to move my hand...

I love it so far

Man the difference between stock and this thing is light years different. I shoulda snapped a pic like yours of my car on the jacks lol

I had two jacks on each side, two planks of wood under both wheels cause it was higher than the rhino ramps, about 4 blocks right near where I was working, jack stands, and wood blocks behind my tires. I was just as paranoid lol

Had a jack stand collapse on me, brand new out of the box about 2 weeks ago.

It's going to take some time to work through our trust issues.

You are correct because.....

My 1LE does not have a short throw.
My friend has a '12 2SS with the factory Short throw which as stated has about 25% reduction.

I promise you, you CAN get a 1LE without it.

I'm not really out anything though, the Short Throw has to be added in as an additional option.

Needless to say, the closeout of the 2015 netted me a nice $13,000 discount off MSRP so I'm not hearbroken in the least!!

From Chevy's website....

Short throw is added separately from the 1LE package.

Attachment 763664

1LE does not include short throw.

Attachment 763665
.....As I already wrote to paul84043 in an other thread, the ZL1/1LE shifter was never offered as an "option" on the 1LE since it came standard with it, even though there was some sort of confusion a while back ago on here, concerning the options sheet codes when ordering the 1LE package online.

The option code sheet is not written in stone.

There was confusion and delay on other option codes as well concerning stand-alone options and the 1LE Package, they simply contradicted themselves on paper, just like the mags option in the RS package with the 1LE .

The shifter one takes the cake.

*If anyone here truly is missing ANYTHING at all from the 1LE package, a 1Le specific part, let it it be mags, steering wheel, shifter, a bearing, lol, rear diff, you can bet, that someone was drunk on a Monday morning on the assembly line, LOL.

Now I don't consider "THE shortest throw" necessarily a good thing, but as far as throw reductions are concerned, for those that it matters, here is a very interesting post below, might even be a sticky by now, or it should be .

-- The aftermarket Hurst short throw shifter provides a 44% throw reduction

-- The Lingenfelter short throw shifter provides a 44% throw reduction

-- The Barton short throw shifter provides a 46% throw reduction

Since it took me a lot of time to find this out while reading different threads and websites, I'm hoping that having it in one centralized location will help other C5ers in their search for the SST that might be best suited for them. If you have anything to add, whether a correction on the posted numbers or a SST not on this list, let me know and I will make the necessary updates.
