I just plowed through Montana/Idaho/Nevada/California while the snow was dumping. And it was around -10f when I was driving in Montana. No troubles for me. I'm have an SS. I bought one because I want to DRIVE it. Not to shove it in a garage. If your too scared to use it, why get it? You guys must be the kind of people who are afraid to get their hands dirty! Haha j/k

It's amazing to me how some people seem to know it all. I bet one or two on this thread will be back before winter is over crying about the damage to their SS.
Summer tires are worthless below 30-35 degrees period !.

+1 on that! I drive a ton of miles and will drive my SS year round. Everyone tells me to get a beater. If I wanted to drive a piece of junk, I wouldn't have spent $35k to do it!!!

...

Winter or not, it can happen. I nailed a 10 point buck and mine is laid up in the shop w/ over $5,000 worth of damage right now. Weather was fine, roads were fine, everything was as good as can be. But when you come over a blind hill and find a deer, there is nothing you can do.

I'll drive it all winter though! I've got some 19" all-seasons from the LS to put on her though.

Worthless for what?

A soft summer tire like the P Zero is less sticky in the winter because it becomes harder due to cold temperatures. As long as you don't try to corner the same as you do in the summer you will be fine. In essence, the P-Zero just becomes a normal tire made of harder compound due to temperature...no longer ultra high performance but its still round and rolls just fine if you don't drive like a pinhead.

BUT....It doesn't channel road contaminants like slush and snow nearly as effectively as an all-season or snow tire...look at the tread design....there are no channels to go from the center of the tire outward.....so your car will in essence be on top of surface contaminants insead of on the road....you are kind of hydroplaning the whole time, and it gets worse with higher speed. I would definitely avoid driving in snow with these tires unless it's an emergency.

Worthless for what ?. Cold weather driving !.
black2_SS: Deer are everyhere here now in Ct also- Before dawn and at dusk they are crossing roads all over the place. Other than the cold, that's my biggest worry. The SS is mostly tucked away in the garage now.

+1

I'll take the cold over the hot weather ANY DAY..at least you can add clothes to get warmer, but in the hot, humid summer 'oven', if you are not inside your house or car or store in the AC, you cannot ever get cooled off enough...

I'd obviously rather be 'comfortable' all the time, but I'd rather be too hot than too cold, usually. I just seem to have an easier time dealing with sweating as opposed to shivering.
