thats sad. Honestly, if they don't know, just say 'I dont know'. I'd prefer that over a lie. And I could understand them not knowing with GM in the mess it is in right now.

Take a chill pill and join the club...I know it's hard to realize this but you're not the only person in the world who wants their car.

Geez, does anyone besides me, recall that we had been told that Preorders were targeted to be completed by the Third Quarter???????

Consider this folks, you have 15,000 preorders, each uniquely defined and optioned to individual tastes. I am no mathematician, but conceivably this could result in 15.000 different cominations of options. Add to this the Dealer cars (some 6,000 or so vehicles) and Some cars for dealer stock, which takes away your ability to get exactly what you want should you elect to go that route. Assuming you build two additional cars for dealer stock, we are looking at 33,000 vehicles pushed into the pipeline. That is basically a third of what GM was intending to build at the time of announcement of this vehicle (Ed Peper and Bob Lutz were hoping for 100k vehicle sales each model year to sustain this car in production).

So, what we have here is pent up demand, anxious people, production combinations which really end up blocking similar models together during production.

As I have said in some of my other posts, the manufacturing of any automobile is a complex process. Those of us who have plunked down our hard earned cash, are expecting to have a vehicle the way we want it, not to pick a compromise from dealer stock.

Before I close this out, I must express my disappointment in the fact that this does not register with folks on here. You are getting the car the way you want it. AS long as it meets the third Quarter timeline we have been told, it boils down to our collective anxiety and impatience.

Since this is the first vehicle I have ordered to spec, in my lifetime, I am equally as anxious about when it will get here. The fact is, that It will get here when it gets here. That is the way the world works.

I will have a New Camaro, equipped the way I want it not out of some dealer stock order. That is something for which I am truly happy!

That's what it says. My question is this: How does it "strengthen a relationship" or "establish a bond" to take an order from someone, take $1000 of their money, and then completely shelve their order in favor of production for speculative sale under the guise of exposing the car to the unwary public? This is no different than being invited to a restaurant's opening one night early, and when you get there, you find out they're letting anyone in the door who bothers to show up, and then when you finally place your order, you find out they're serving the people who wandered up first since they didn't know much about the restaurant before they wandered up. Now I ask you, are you going to go back to the restaurant?
Look, you want to generate interest in this car? Put 'em on the damn street where people see 'em driving around, not stuck in a showroom. I get that you want people to come to the dealership and actually see the thing, but my dealer I ordered from, on 11/3/08, is the largest car dealer in the largest city in Mississippi, and they're not even going to get their V-6 car for tomorrow's 'unveiling'. So that worked out really well....
I agree with this post.

But the car that is used to attract people to the dealership is also there to get people to look at other chevy cars. The camaro might get them in the door, but they may end up driving off with something else made by Chevy.

This isn't fast food where they have burger patty's sitting around and waiting for someone to order and they slap it together and throw it into the microwave.

Seeing one might actually make the wait worst. At least thats what happened to me. LOL....After you take a million pics and finally convince yourself to leave the dealership, you're going start up that car or truck you came in and wish it was your new Camaro that you were leaving in...But I will say it was better for me to see one at the dealership than on the streets because I really would have lost my mind and grown even more impatient...

ultimate irony from the ordering workbook

I was reading the last page of the Ordering Workbook, on the Early Order Page.

That's what it says. Ask for your workbench printout. It should show the date (the day of the printout), what you ordered w/ all the specs, the price of the car, your order number (consisting of letters and numbers), and your current event code. If they can't show you that them your dealer is full of

I am anxious as a mofo, but complaining and griping is pointless. I understand that my order is only 1 in a sea of orders, and it takes time to GET IT RIGHT.

Also the issues mentioned above aren't really issues anyway. The Dings / Side mirror can happen to any vehicle getting shipped. And it has been confirmed that the Fascia cracking is a non-issue for production camaros.

I have been waiting 7 years for this. Just a few more months is a drop in the bucket. Find something to keep you busy in the meantime, () and before you know it you'll be wearing a perma-grin in the driver's seat of your new camaro.
