If you look at a side profile of ZL1, with the hood up, I think you will agree that the louver inlet scoop hangs in front of the engine, just above the accesory drive. When it rains, and if the car is stationary, I don't really think more than the accessories will get we at all, and I really doubt and significant amount will get wet at speed in the rain. I forget what the amount is, but GM tests all cars dynamically by running them through several inches of water at a given speed and puts them in chambers that shower them with something like 9-inches of rain a second, or something crazy like that. For perspective, you would have to be driving though a hurricane or tornado in order to be exposed to any risk from the water through the extractor vents. Again, find a side profile and try to notice how far ahead of the engine it sits and I think you may agree.

.

No, but lucky for us the suede is optional.

It's supposed to help reduce sliding on the seats in the turns, but if you don't like it, that's not going to be a problem.

What are the extra buttons on the console where our traction control button is?

I don't believe the suede is optional on the dash and seats, just the steering wheel and shifter. The ZL1 at the fest with the black wheels had a leather steering wheel and shifter but still had suede inserts on the seats and dash.

And for the record, I don't think it looks like crap at all. All it took was a minute of sitting in a CTS-V with a suede appointed interior to know I'll be selecting that option.

Some of these overexposed pics with flash don't do the interior justice at all IMO.

I believe it's the mag ride control and possibly PTM control.

Awesome Allan! Nathalia and I were happy to meet you and Carol. Great people, thanks for inviting the whole UpstateC5 crew out to dinner. How are things looking for Maryland? My girlfriend left some jewlery at the hotel. They have it and will mail it but they say the entire postal service is shut down?? She's been very busy trying to catch up on things but hasn't stopped talking about you guys. Seems they really hit it off. Remember there's always an open invitation in NY. Congrats again on the front page post and COTW, I should have gotten your autograph when I had the chance.

The 2 on the left are setting controls for the suspension. (touring and sport I believe) The last is the traction control.

I agree that the suede looks awesome and the flash with poor exposure makes it look bad in the photos. I really liked it in my Nissan Maxima but not sure i'd want it in the zl1 though.

Others have said it, but here's a clearer picture.

I believe the left and center buttons are dual-function; the control the Magnetic Ride Selection, and Performance Traction Management Settings...the left shuts if off.
