Just a quick note on exhaust. I learned today that the GM perfomance muflers are actually produced by Borla. The GM list price is $995 but I've seen them for less on various sites and the Borla exhaust is even less. Tha main difference is the tips have the bowtie emblem. Additionally, when you order the exhaust and have it installed at a GM dealer it won't affect your warranty and carries the same warranty as the car for defect.

I put GMPP catback on yesterday and the car looks better and sounds better. Now if I can just get GM to put a rush on my shorty headers!

Don't tell me to get the V8, that's not going to happen!
I put a Cherry Bomb Vortex muffler on my 97 4Runner (V6), it came out sounding great under power, not so much just reving though. Sound doesn't quite "fit" the runner but I like it, been on there a couple years now.

I've been waiting on someone to do this before I commit to GM tips.
Thanks in advance.

Look here! As one of the first to do the muffler delete I read threads like this in pure amazement. Some of you that have just gotten your cars and some that are very close to getting them are trying to get the facts on this situation. I see a lot of the very same guys swaying back and forth on this issue nearly daily. The facts are presented from two sides here. One side is current Camaro owners that have already done the Muffler Delete. The other side is from a group of vendors that want to sell their systems. As an owner that does not want a dime from you or look at the group as a market base I say this. The muffler delete sounds great and will give you more HP and
Torque. Now if I would get the hundred dollar return by selling you a system I would rush right out and get the dyno results to prove it to you. Howerver, there already have been dyno's performed that have shown just the muffler delete produced 17 HP and 10 lbs of torque. But those results have been swept under the table by just words and a picture of a sliced up jerry can. Come on guys wake up. To the vendors that are out there and on the forum I have this to say. I like your stuff. In fact I will buy your system when I am ready for that modification. Long tube headers and 3" pipes with a set of high flow cats is right in my plan. But dont BS the Camaro bretheren by telling them they cant get by in the interm by a simple muffler delete. We will be your customer soon but maybe we have the other basic mods and taxes and plates pressing us right now. But because we dont want the whisper quiet stock system and your sly words and smoke and mirrors confuse us we think there is no other choice for us right now. Once again, I want to make it perfectly clear. I want a full system and will get one but right now I am totally satisfied with my low cost (under 200) custom mod and everyone that has heard it loves it and there is no highway drone and no adverse effects from doing it. My fellow Camaro friends, only you can decide but dont just rely on pictures and words, ask for your fellow members opinions and advice and balance it with the words and data of someone that has something to sell you. In the words of Forrest Gump. Thats all I have to say about that!

Agree with you 2010 SS RS... I've heard it in person and it sounds great...... (just right). I've also raced it on the track and lost, so there were definitely some gain to be had...

I still like my Corsa better... but paid 1,450 to get it...:(

And that was my point exactly.
We all will buy one sometime but for those that have window tints, clear bra's, custom stripes, Air intakes, and other basic mods a 1400 dollar system might need to wait until next season. But they can still have a better sounding muscle car right now and get the other essentials done as well. I do really like the Corsa system you put on by the way. Looks every bit as good as it sounds....

You can't determine anything about an exhaust system by looking at photos of some of its components. You can infer some obvious design qualities, but you can't claim to have any knowledge of how it flows when installed. Same thing with random uncontrolled dyno results.

You also can't determine anything of value from individual stories. Unless you have a standardized and somewhat reliable measure of some particular factor, let's say flowthrough, all you have is conjecture until you test as many random samples as you can on certified equipment and have that data in turn reviewed and analyzed by a blind third party. Then you can tell us what kind of flow one or the other tends to make, but nothing beyond that. You can't jump to conclusions, and you can't tell anything about a system's efficiency by any of its component parts. You certainly can't tell me how well something works by looking at it, just like you can't accurately measure your own 0-60 runs or tell me how much your car weighs by trying to lift it.

Well my take is GM could of made it louder but some people want the lux aspect and also the deluxe audio system.

People upgrade cause they want to go beyond that. As far as the sound well each product has to stand on it's own. If you have the money and you like the sound then.

But it is a cool picture thx.

[QUOTE=Vash;637182]Well my take is GM could of made it louder...QUOTE]

I'm interested in knowing if there is a limit on dB from the factory imposed by our government.
Do you all think GM made it quiet(relative speaking) cause that's what we wanted or if they knew HP would be higher with a less restrictive exhaust and that the fact it sounded like it meant business?

My two cents;
I think it sounds a lot more like it should without the mufflers, not too loud, but loud enough to let everyone know it has some power when you get on it. The drawback, some cackling on decceleration if you don't disengage the clutch.

I can't say I 'felt' any improvement after just removing the mufflers, but after adding CAI, there's no doubt in my mind it is making more power.

Sure, if I had a large disposable income, I would have done something different. This just buys me some time till I find and afford the best headers and full exhaust. And I eventually need to save up for a rear tire replacement, holy crap that's some expensive rubber
