It's not that exactly...it's just that if you're planning to lay out $30,000 for the car, but bumping it up to $30,200 to include tint is a problem for you, it gives the impression (whether right or wrong) that something is out of whack...that you're spending more than you can afford.

Anyway as suggested above most dealers will be happy to do the tinting, and you can roll the cost into the loan if that's what you want to do. I'm sure they will be aware of what is legal in your state.
but i'm NOT laying out 30000 for the car. i'm financing 19,000 and i could understand people saying "what's an extra 200 dollars" if i were paying cash, but i'm not. i'm financing and going to be paying pretty much EXACTLY what i'm already paying every month. so why does that mean i can afford extra stuff. if i can't afford it now, then why would i be able to afford it then? i'm explaining myself so that it makes sense?

anyway, i didn't really have a question about any of this... my original post said:

"does this bother anyone else as much as it does me? i build my car and i love it and then i see them on the road and the windows are not tinted. huh? why have the car have obviously tinted windows online if they won't be tinted in real life? for me, it completely changes the look of the car.

i wanted to get a new malibu for a while and LOVED the white ones and the black ones that i saw out and about but then i was on the phone with draper chevrolet in michigan, and he said that's not an option. well then why the heck are they tinted on the website too? GRRRR frustrates me LOL!"

so in fact, i NEVER once said that i even WANT to tint my windows... just said i love the way it looks and that it shows it on the website but it's not what it actually look likes and that that annoyed me. LOL!

Fair enough. As I said it's just an impression that people get, it's not necessarily anything close to reality

if something is $4.01 and you give them $5 and they keep the change, tahts not very good money management if your not rich ... just my opinion... those cents add up

and i agree with what you say hayled, just figured who woudlnt want their camaro tinted somewhat ... most people will have them tinted but i guess not you ... makes you a little unique in a way

LOL, THEY don't keep the change. I keep it. i never spend change. i have a change purse and every penny goes in it and then in to my big jar once it's full. so if it's 4.01 and i give them 5. I keep the 99 cents lol! why would i let everyone keep all my change! ha. i know they add up... that's why i said i put all my change in a jar and then cash it in... remember i said did that last year and after 8 months of saving my change i ended up with 452 dollars! YAY!

and i don't know whether or not i will get them tinted. depends on money and if i find it important enough to save for.

DID THE STATE INSPECTOR GIVE YOU PROBLEMS?

If you can't afford to pay the $200 for a metallic tint job after buying the Camaro, then have your dealer do it for you before you pick up the car and add it to the cost that is financed.
Did the State Inspector give you any problems and how did you attach the sticker ,they are usually pretty strict about it. so you dont swap it out to another vehicle

I am fighting an internal battle about the tint...my old Maxima that I use to have was tinted at 3% on a black car. It looked very good although I could not see crap at night. I never once got stopped. I will not go that dark on my SS but I want to do at least 10 and 35 on the windshield but I'm gonna wait right now. The local 5/O is cracking down on tint, illegal use of the center lane, etc, etc, etc...city budgets are low.

not to sound like a douche but if you can't afford a 200 dollar tint job then you should probably hold off on getting a camaro for now.

LOL!
Your APR is better than mine. I got 5.93 and im 22 with damn near perfect credit. haha. oh well.

Um..make sure in your budget to include $80 oil changes, $483 for one tire and the brake pads on these aren't cheap either. Oh and you have to use Premium fuel...about $4 more per fill up than you're probably acustomed to.

We're just looking out for you!
Doesn't sound like your really ready for this car.

I don't know about everyone else but I just did a couple minutes of good talking with my dealer and I got the delership to tint my windows for free. Sticker was 37,8xx.....if they can't afford 150 or so for tint I woulda moved to the next dealership.
