Tax dollars......wtf kind of excuse is that?!?
When they have to replace their cars...they have to buy new cars...so who cares which vehicle it goes to? The money's being spent one way or the other! I'd rather it be spent on a reliable, and impressive car. (and we're talking about Highway interceptors, btw; not your average patrol car) Most importantly; Lets not turn this into a "lets hate on the police" thread, huh? A few isolated, one-side-tells-all incendents are not enough to prove any piece of such an assertion. So keep it up; and the thread gets closed IMMEDIATELY. |

It also sucks big time, because it's kind of hard to live a life in this modern world in the US without driving.

people's first instinct is to believe the higher authority and to believe that "man that person who was harrassed must have done something wrong" a lot of times of course....but not all the time officers are humans who are capable of making mistakes and abusing the power they are given...please don't try to deny that obvious fact that comes with the territory ... |

They are relieved of some of the taxes by not paying fuel tax.Anyway, unfair taxation is a whole different issue. It seems unfair that I'm paying school taxes when I don't have children. It seems unfair that I'm paying welfare taxes when not receiving any welfare. The same could be said of most other government services; each of us uses only a fraction of said services. Getting thrown out of or opting out of any of those services doesn't relieve the person of having to pay the taxes for them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a proponent of the current system which I think is unfair, but the question of "the accused is presumed innocent in a court of law until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt" and trial by peers is invalid because in this case we're not talking about a crime or a court of law...we're talking about an infraction against a voluntary system to be tried in a court of that system. I don't like it, I'm just explaining the design and the excuses they use. Though, come to think of it, I'm not sure I'd want to pay the huge amount of taxes required to support the costs of treating traffic violations like crimes. Maybe if we're all so pissed off about unreasonable speed limits, revenue-generation speed traps, and abusive cops, we could all join something like the National Motorists Association and fight these issues. Meh, apathy wins. I'll just bitch about individual tickets when I get them.

Chevydude26, you supported the point I was trying to make.

And because these people are willing to put themselves in danger to protect you and I - not to mention some of my close friends are or are becoming police officers - I won't have crude comments such as those be made. I'm not denying anything, and I'd thank you for not putting words in my mouth to the contrary. All I wanted to say is that this thread is about whether or not you think the police should be allowed to drive Camaros. Leave it there. |

I think it's funny to note that "theholycow" has voted yes & no in the poll!
Is that an error or a system breach?

I can't imagine why the poll was made that way, but it's an option when posting a poll, you can either have check boxes (can choose more than one) or radio buttons (can only choose one).

NYS troopers have 4th gens and let me tell you, sharp cars, and do they move. I voted yes. Take a look at what 18 rustangs can do in 1 state:
